It’s been a slow end to an era, but perhaps the last free standing water chute attraction in Branson is up for sale with an uncertain future. You can view the listing at this link. The property actually includes some extra land with an Old Time Photo building and some custom homes as well, not a bad collection of units for the price.
Free standing water chute attractions used to be staples of summer fun across the nation, but the rise of water parks has slowly edged them out. Branson used to have a number of these chutes, most notably the Wet n’ Wild slide that used to sit across from SDC’s Wilderness Campground. That slide was removed back when White Water was built by the SDC company.
The land is in a prime location, so redevelopment is fairly likely despite the relative success of the slide’s current operation. This summer may be your last chance to experience part of a by-gone tradition, so stop by while you still can.
