Phone in the General Store

The phone in the General Store is broken! For as long as I can remember, one could pick up the receiver and hear people on the "party line". It was always one of those must-do things for my kids and me. It was one of those special little details that made SDC unique. I asked the lady in the General Store if it was going to be fixed, and she said she didn't know. If I had to place a bet, I would say that it is gone forever...like the Post Office, Tree House, Tom Sawyer's Landing, et al. Sigh.

I hate to hear that the phone is no longer working.  I always got a kick out of listening in!

Yes, sad news...a SDC classic. If you go in the store ask them about it. Maybe if they get badgered about it, they will fix it.

Never heard it once in 20+ years of visiting, saw it mentioned on this site, went in this summer to have a listen and of course it wasn't working!

These are the types of things that fade away because no one really notices them. I had forgotten all about it. The Ghost Trap was the same way, but I think we actually helped bring it back when we started posting about it being abandoned.

Email them or drop a comment on their Facebook to let them know you noticed it and that you wish it was still working.

Hey! That is great news! Now only if we could use our powers of persuasion to get our memories of yesterday reinstated! lol. However, I am happy to hear they fixed the phone and that the ghost trap is working! Yay!!!
