Silver Dollar City Featured on DIY Network’s Salvage Dawgs

DIY Network’s hit show Salvage Dawgs filmed two episodes at Silver Dollar City during the dismantlement of the former Geyser Gulch attraction last winter. The show features a dynamic duo of salvage experts who dismantle various structures ahead of the wrecking ball to uncover hidden treasures. The show is responsible in part for creating the Fireman’s Oath monument in Fireman’s Landing, which is built out of salvaged parts of Geyser Gulch.

The first episode aired on June 14, but a second episode is coming on July 26 at 9 p.m. central time on the DIY network.

Forum member oklaSDCfan pointed out that Salvage Dawgs has placed a number of salvaged items from Geyser Gulch on its EBay page. There’s everything from functional fountains and air guns to collectible mementos like signs and old targets. They even have an old gandy dancer car and the old toy store barrel sign. The prices are high, but the nostalgia factor is off the charts! Who doesn’t need a giant frying pan for their yard?

Curtains Close on Geyser Gulch

Geyser Gulch will close forever at the end of the day today. A new set of attractions, to be announced on August 13, will revitalize the area in 2015.

The gigantic playhouse and lakefront novelties have been apart of SDC since 1997 when it debuted under the distinction of being the “world’s largest treehouse”. The main structure was well known for the massive foam ball play area inside, complete with air cannons, hoses, elevators, and all kinds of other fun ways to throw the balls around.
