I made some hartack a few years back, and low and behold, it is still in my desk here at school, wrapped and ready for our unit in Social Studies! It actually was good when warm, but as it cooled it hardened, and took on a texture much like honestly....dried cement
In fact, a common joke among American Civil War reenactors is that hardtack made 140 years ago "tastes just as good" now as it did back then. That prompted me to create a few ads/ and a custom hardtack logo-design for the fictitious Hartack Festival of 2010....Here they are! I would love a shirt with this on there...maybe I'll do a one-off of the second design!
