Title: tunnel slides 1990's era
Post by: MissinTheGreenTrams on October 07, 2010, 01:42:17 PM
there used to be these slides and I dont remember what part of the park, it seems like around the tree house vacinity but could be wrong. They were made of corrogated drainage metal and I think the slides were short slides. does anyone know what I am talking about--------or am I just nutz-o?

I remember them too. Image they were pulled out for Riverblast. I think they were part of Tom Sawyer's landing

while in line for the lost river you will see round wooden covers over holes in the rocks at the side of the building. Those are the concrete crawling tunnels left over from the playground adjacent to the diving bell. They had a nice playground in that area, with crawling nets, slide, and tunnels, and kids also climbed on the lower rocks.

SO the three of us have placed them in three different areas of the park. Any chance we're not all talking about the same slides?

You are all right, they were in Tom Sawyers Landing and they were also at the area in front of the Diving bell.  I remember, I crawled in them as did my little brother.

I have a picture of those slides in Tom Sawyers Landing. The picture was taken in 2005, with a good view of the slides, the rope course above, and the balloon ride. If someone could tell me how to upload a picture, I will put it on here!

If you want to know, next time just ask me!!  I am the resident archivist!
You are thinking not of the Diving bell, or the Treehouse, instead...you are thinking of Mounds Tunnels @ Tom Sawyer's Landing

Holy smokes! :o

Granted it has been a few years since I was kid, but I had forgotten all about those tunnels. Thanks for the memory refresher! ;D

Thanks for the picture DollarCityBoy!

It's only my opinion, but it seemed to me that SDC could place some kid stuff between RiverBlast and the RR tracks. Currently much space in there!
