Title: Christmas music a' comin!
Post by: mbrownx4 on October 27, 2010, 12:22:47 PM
I live in the Kansas City area and two radio stations here start playing the music of the season early!!!  Like in recent years, one has started the day after Halloween!  So I was wondering if anyone else has radio stations that plug it in early.  Oh, and by the way, I don't mind a bit.

I know how you feel! I am already listening to Trans Siberian Orchestra, and various other Christmas music:) Unfortunately, I don't know of any radio stations that play it before November 1st, and you can't even make a good Pandora station with a good variety of Christmas music :( I guess I'll just burn some CD's

We had a station last year that played haolloween music up until Nov 1, and then started in with the Holiday music....This was only because the station was being reformatted, and was not going to be operational until Jan 1, so they were just stalling a bit.

I dont know when our holiday stations begin, usually around early-mid November

This is no surprise to anyone I am sure, but my local Wal-Mart has already started selling some of their Christmas merchandise. They haven't started playing any of the the music, though. I know we are all gitty like children on Christmas morning (no pun intended  ;)), but let's at least make it to November first. ;D

That's funny. I actually worked at a Wal-Mart years ago and we started receiving/storing Christmas merchandise in early July  ???

I worked at a radio station for years in east Arkansas that played Christmas music non stop Christmas Eve beginning about 5pm and lasting until around noon Christmas Day. Then, after 12pm, back to the normal format. We had local physicians sponsor the holiday music, and we "made a killing" with those ads! Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells... :D

star102.com and KUDL 98.1's site (can't remember the exact site address) both have streaming music; they're the two Kansas City stations that do 24/7 Christmas music from November 1st to at least January 1st (one actually started ON Halloween a couple years ago, much to many people's chagrin).

You mean they didn't like dressing up in their ghost costume while listening to Jingle Bells?  ;)
