To answer the first question, "The Sounds of Silver Dollar City" is available on eBay as we speak for Buy  It Now  either $9.99 or $15.00. Amazon has one on sale for $9.99 as well. It is a great buy, and a must have for any SDC Fan!

For more information about what might be on thje LP, visit the thread that discussed portions of it here:http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=1649.msg30160#msg3016 (http://sdcfans.com/forums/index.php?topic=1649.msg30160#msg3016)

To answer the second question, SDC is closed from Oct 30-Nov 4, and re-opens Nov. 5 with the Old Time Christmas.

You all could invest in a MP3 turntable like I did that converts any record into MP3 files  ;D

Those things come in handy! When we were going thru my grandma's attic we found a bunch of records from my grandpa's bluegrass band. They were starting to fade, so my uncle had a friend who had one of the converter things and let us borrow it. Now everybody who wants to can enjoy the original songs that my grandpa and his buddies wrote back in the day which would otherwise be gone forever if not for one of the MP3 turntables!

Totally agree!  The best part is that if you want to appreciate the vinyl in its original form, you can do that too!   But man, it really solves the problem of taking the "Sounds of Silver Dollar City" with you on your iPhone!

I do not have the mp3 turntable, but I do have the mp3 converter box that plugs into the audio output on the turntable, and then plugs into the USB in the computer...basically the same thing...just cheaper

What's a CD?
Oh, you mean those old fashioned plastic Frisbees that contain music? ;D

I'm teasing! However, the recording is so old, that I wish Silver Dollar City would upload the music straight to the internet for free so that we could all download it. :)

I was present for part of the recording of this album in 1980. SDC held a "round dance?" on Main Street at the end of the day, I remember the recording equipment being set up and portions of the activitities being recorded. I still have the album.

Record players were definitely in period, but not this type you would have played this record on. It was around 1900 before good audio disk style records were available to the public
