Another weekend, another park. Silver Dollar City was rather chilly, just like Worlds of Fun was last weekend. Luckily, a lot of the attractions at SDC are indoors, including some really good shows that are going on for World Fest.

Great Pics.. I am taking my daughter there this weekend and will try to get some too.
You can tell it's cold. The workers at the front gate almost look like they're bundled up for winter! :D
I have tried but can not figure out how to upload pics... I must be slow.

I think the way people successfully upload photos on here is by first uploading them to Photobucket and then putting them on the site.
I was there on Friday also. It was cold but there were no lines and we got in to the shows that we wanted to see without a problem. We were only at the park for three hours and saw the two big shows. To be honset, everyone I have talked to thinks that "Feet of Fire" is not too good. I felt that the advertisement for the show was very mis-leading. Perhaps they should have called the show "Island of Fire" and included pictures of people singing in the advertisement. I would also have liked for them to explain what fire had to do with Ireland. The show seemed more like a Irish Talent Show.
Thanks for the pics Swoosh. They are very good. It did look very cold. It wasn't near that cold when I was at the park a few weeks ago. It is odd how Missouri weather works.
You guys kick my butt at The Shootout. I suck at those rides. :(
^You can't be worse than me. It seems I can only hit 10-15 targets; the only way that's even remotely respectable is I hit them multiple times each. :-\
I've never thought to take photographic evidence of my scores at Flooded Mine. I am now inspired to do so on my next trip. :)

IDK, it is something that we started during the Fall Festival last year and we do it every time now... well if we get a good score that is.
Fantastic photos as always, I love a good pictorial trip report.
I'm surprised it was cold, it was really nice around northeastern Oklahoma that weekend.
Btw, was Giant Swing still running its usual pattern? People keep saying that they've been shortening it off and on inconsistently, but I think they're just loosing the effect of the first few rides.
The temps were misleading in Branson on Friday. It was 56* out, but with the stiff wind blowing all day, it made it feel a lot colder than it really was. I think if the wind would have stopped blowing it would have been a great day. Saturday was misty all day which made it feel chilly again, but then on Sunday it was in the lower 70s and beautiful.
Just aim the gun (on the Flooded Mine) directly into the score readout of another gun and continue to shoot, shoot, shoot. You're guaranteed to have the highest score at the end of the ride. Every shot into the other gun scores!
I just ride in an ore cart with some others, but I sit in the back and do my shooting without anyone knowing what I am doing. Outscores 'em every time.

It is most definitely shorter. Its not that the ride is losing its effect. It is shorter.

Wow, all these years and I never knew you could do that! The next time I ride it I'll try that. Everyone will be amazed at my high score! :D
Btw, I also have noticed that the Giant Swing ride time is shorter.
Sure you can cheat (that's a secret little known fact you shouldn't be sharing) but it is more fun to actually try to hit the targets. That score was without any cheating going on. :P
Yeah, I've learned that the best way to earn points without cheating is to aim at just one target and shoot it as many times before it's out of range. I've racked up quite a few points doing that.
Now, wasn't one of the reasons they added the awning to the last part of the ride because people were aiming the guns at the sun to get points?
~ "Becky" Joy ~
^LOL! I haven't heard that one. I'll cheat at least once just so I can win finally. I always lose.
^I've won before without cheating, but it was a long time ago. I just couldn't miss that day, for some unknown reason. I didn't hit very many targets that day, but the ones I did hit were the high points ones and I hit them 15-20 times each! I've never heard about aiming at the sun either. That's interesting. Might have to try that once to see if it works for me! 8)
As I recall, you can rack up points by shooting another persons read out as well
No offense to some of you, but it seems as if you spent more time trying to figure out how to cheat then trying to enjoy the attraction the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
^I had never heard of cheating on the ride before this all came up actually.
Otherwise I wouldn't have lost so many times! ::) I'm not really a cheater though. I might or might not try it. You can't really be a cheater and play sports though like I do.
Not that I'm trying to cheat - it's just that I really can't see all there is to see if I'm busy trying to aim at targets. I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the ride and all there is to see.
I haven't seen anyone talking about the new prison guard figures in the Mine. What does everybody think? The convicts have always been unguarded, unless you count those ghostly ghould in the tall part at the end when they first changed the quaint enjoyable ride to the arcade it now is.
If it's not too crowded this Wednesday (when my friend and I are going), I'm gonna try going on Flooded Mine twice; once so I can get pics, then again so I can play. :)
Speaking of... Anyone know what the crowds are like on Wednesdays at the end of April?
~ "Becky" Joy ~
They'll be pretty good I'd imagine. Mmm, I need to get started on that SDC crowds calendar...
^The crowds shouldn't be bad since school is still in session and it's right in the middle of the week. What is the crowds calendar, Steve? It sounds helpful!
^Since everyone is always clogging up Branson forums asking what the crowds will be like on a given day, I'm going to put together and interactive calendar to track the most and least crowded days. It'll also be easier to know when days like "school orchestra day" or "boy-scout day" are, when the park is filled with bus after bus of the little monsters.
Don't get too excited yet though, this is one of those things that I'll get to eventually.
