I was wondering if they still made brooms at the city and the price of them. They are high in the store and the bristles are not good. Anyone have any info on the brooms is would be appreciated.
No. The broom maker is no longer at the park.
No basketmaker. No stained glass maker. No gun maker. No print shop/book seller. There are many others gone, too. Times change.
I think the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View AR still has a broom maker.
the Ozark folk center in mountain view, Arkansas was still making brooms last year.
So what is in the broom maker building now?
The old book store-that became the broom maker near the tracks, must be vacant then?
Perfect time for me to open my museum and gallery!
Bring it on, Rube! :)
That's too bad. I thought it would be good to support the old SDC crafts but I am too late.
I guess I will end up with a cheap broom from Lowes.
damn the progress!
Killer idea rube! A on park museum & gallery. :)
Walked by the old broom shop right next to the tracks behind the flooded mine. That thing is shuttered up tighter that you can imagine.
And havin me on staff would be like having a substitute for almost any craft on park! I carve, I basket weave, I paint, I cook, I can even pick a tune a bit... I know the history, and have one of the most extensive (if not the most) outside of the archives...bring it on SDC!
