Just out of Curiosity, what is your favorite ride? This is my first post, so thanks if you reply.
Flooded Mine, then Fire in the Hole. Love the oldies! Miss the Diving Bell and the Jim Owen Float Trip! :'(
Gotta go with some of the old school stuff: Flooded Mine and Fire in the Hole. Also on the list, Jim Owens Float Trip Ride, American Plunge, Stagecoach, Train, Diving Bell.
Fire-in-the-Hole, for its meaningful historical references, followed by the Diving Bell, for its creativity
Fire in the Hole!! Its dark, its scary, its wet, baldknobbers runnin' around all over the place. I love it!! :D
The Frisco Silver dollar Line, the Flooded mine, the Stage Caoch, the Float Trip.
Alas! but the latter two are just memories. Since none of these is an option on the poll, I didn't vote.
Fire in the Hole. Gets my vote. Should have been on the list.
Fire In The Hole, American Plunge, Flooded Mine
Something interesting to note here...
On this forum, there is often a discussion about the old SDC vs. the "new" SDC. A lot of us who long for the old SDC seem to imply that the park is going down hill as it changes to appeal to a new crowd.
I am going to guess that TwinsVikingsWild is a fairly young person who is obviously enthusiastic about Silver Dollar City. I am going to guess that his level of enthusiasm is the same as mine, and I have been going to the City since 1980. I think it is interesting that his poll doesn't include Fire in the Hole and the Flooded Mine, which, to us "old-timers" are sacred rides at SDC.
To me, this just proves that Silver Dollar City's attempts to strike a balance between us "old-timers" and new, younger fans is working.
Memories worth repeating. Five Generations of my family have visited SDC, and we will keep going back.
Cant beat the classics!!! if you are a classic yourself ;D ;D ;D ;D
LOL.. When I feel "the need for speed", I pull the hot rod out of the garage... LOL..
1. Train 2. Flooded Mine
Fire in the hole!
Depends on if you go there for the rides or for some other reason
We go for the entertainment, NOT the rides. If we wanted only rides, we wouldn't drive 900 miles to go to SDC.
I concur with that Cheese. I enjoy the rides but they are not my reason for going.
Count me in as a lover of the classics! If I limit myself to just the choices in the poll, I like them all except for The Giant Swing. That ride has never appealed to me. Just my own preference. :)
I rode the Giant Swing because my daughter likes it.
I've got to agree with several of you: I go for the entertainment (and that includes the demonstrating craftsmen) first, with the rides as a secondary attraction to me. If I just wanted roller coasters, I'd go to Six Flags which is a heck of a lot closer to home, but lacks the atmosphere.
I voted for Powder Keg. Really like the launch followed by all the traditional roller coaster ups and downs and turns.
I really love Fire in the Hole and Flooded Mine because I've been riding them since I was little.
I realized the last time we went at the beginning of August just how little of the audio in FitH is actually still there and that makes me so sad. It takes so much away from it.
I really love Outlaw run, though. Growing up, I never rode any of the big rides.
I noticed that last week the outside audio on FitH was completely off. Maybe just for the Southern Gospel Picnic, At least thats what I'm hoping

my dad made me ride it in july (the day it was raining so bad and 65 degrees) and that was my first and last time. ever. it was horrible. the rain just made it worse, lol, I would scream bloody murder and a few not so nice words going backwards, then going frontwards I squeezed my eyes and mouth shut to keep the rain out. the whole time thinking about the lady from SF getting thrown out (that's also why I coulnt fully enjoy OR)
I figure if I die at an amusement park at least I'd go doing something I enjoy. Better than "hey y'all, watch this. "
Wildfire and Fire in the Hole are my two favorites. Wildfire is one of my favorite looping coasters, and I've loved Fire in the Hole from my first ride. Flooded Mine continues to slowly grow on me over time but I'm not at the point where I *love* it (although I do love the average wait for it!). Thunderation is underrated. I would like Outlaw Run and Powder Keg more if I didn't have such terrible luck with breakdowns!
Another vote for FITH from me.
Being a railfan I'd have to say Frisco Silver Dollar Line. The coasters are great as well. I still haven't rode Outlaw Run though.
Ship it on the Frisco!!!
Murphy J.
I like to ride any one of the benches down in lumbercamp/saloon area ;)
