Not having kids yet, we avoid the parade. (It's amazing how empty the rest of the park is during parade time!) I know Rudolph isn't in theme at all, but Rudolph is one of my favorite Christmas movies, so we'll watch it probably once. IDK, I guess with it being Christmas I don't mind.
Just because Gene Autry hadn't sung about him yet doesn't mean Rudy wasn't around in the 1880s, does it?
They have a picture of some of the new parade floats on the SDC Facebook page. I think I can take Rudolph better than Spongebob in the Summer. Rudolph debuted in 1939. But reindeer and Santa go back to Clement Moore in 1823 (further back if you trace Santa Claus back through Norse mythology). So it really isn't that much of a stretch. Mythologicaly speaking Rudolph 'could' have existed back in the 1880's. He just hadn't been 'discovered' yet. ;)
Spongebob's been tickling the nose flute since Rudolph was in tighty whities. How dare thee.
^^That's right, PBR!
Yikes! I hope that car in the photo isn't what we have to look forward to. I would rather watch the train float from the old parade than see a car.
