Title: 1984 - 2024
Post by: allenhuffman on May 01, 2024, 08:40:23 PM
I visited SDC as a teenager in 1984, and told myself I should really make a something I do every forty years. So, naturally, I had to visit this year. I was glad to see that the three things I remembered still existed - Fire in the Hole (though all new), Flooded Mine, and Grandfather's Mansion.

I started taking digital photos in 1996, and have over 200,000 theme park photos on my website now. I'll be adding a batch from the SDC visit last month as soon as I have time to sort them.

Does anyone know if the 1984 show guide or map is available scanned online somewhere? I'd love to get a copy of it to see how the park has changed in 40 years.

Cheers...

Allan,

I am just now seeing this post (sorry, I don't peruse the forums as often as I used to). Glad to hear you finally made it back!

I will definitely keep a lookout for a 1984 park map.

My first time visiting was in 1984 also.   Sure a different experience back then.  Would love to revisit the park of old.
