17.  The "You've Got a Great Past Ahead of You" theme song they play during the opening ceremonies.  (I wanted to see if they had a copy available, and asked around but I guess it's not.)

18.  The "Ridin' on the River with Huck & Me" song from River Blast.  (They play it just enough to get it stuck in your head, but not so much that it gets annoying.)

Distinct memories of being a young boy walking buy the spring at the top of the gunsmith hill simultaneously hearing Bluegrass and the bubling of that spring.
Went together like peanut butter and jelly....
I built a fountain like that just to remind me of the park.

A sound from years gone by is the actual firing of the black powder guns at the gunsmith.

Hey guys! My family and I just returned home from SDC. As usual, it was incredible. We just heard all of these sounds, and more. Puts a smile on my face just thinking about it. If I had to pick one, it would be the entire flooded mine experience. There are so many hilarious sounds, and that theme song...

Thanks for the warm welcome, Coaster. It's good to know that there is a whole group of people that feel as passionate as I do about Silver Dollar City. I have a lot to say, and a lot to ask. Mostly about The fate of "Huck Finn's hideout", or as I like to call it, "Herman the Hermit's Treehouse". Does anyone know if there's a chance they will reopen it? I just wrote a letter to SDC, and corporate headquarters in the hopes that they will refurbish it. An act of futility?

This is such a tough question! Hearing is only one of my five senses that get tickled constantly at Silver Dollar City. :P

For me at Silver Dollar City, I love the sound of bluegrass music being played just around the bend, and yet I can hear that bass beat so clearly that it runs through my soul. I also enjoy the clacking of the chain on Thunderation as the roller coaster climbs up the lift hill. Of course, the train whistle. I just can‘t get enough of it! ;D

This is an easy one!  Anyone who has ever ridden Fire in the Hole with me knows that I LOVE to recite the conversation part!

"Red Flanders! You come back in here and put on your pants."
"Well Sadie I ain't got no pants no more, the dang Baldknobbers stole em."
"Stole them?! Well, what in sam hill would they do with your pants?"

You can barely hear the third line, but because I've ridden so many times, I know it's there.  And then you NEVER, EVER hear the last line. In fact, I didn't even know there WAS a fourth line until a friend told me that there was.

"Well, I think they wanted the gold in the pockets."

But that is definitely, definitely, definitely my FAVORITE sound at the park! ;D

Trans Siberian Orchestra (and other similar bands) songs synchronized to the lights on the giant Christmas tree. I can't wait for OTC:)

Whoever took this video took it sideways for some reason???...but the effect and great music are still there

Perhaps they should come out with a "Sounds of the Silver Dollar" CD. I would be the first one in line for a copy!  ;D

They came out with a sounds of SDC album about 1980. I've got a copy. I wish they would just digitally remaster it and release it on CD, along with a second CD with the theme music to flooded mine, fire in the hole, and other attractions, and the old bluegrass music they used to run on the park PA system when I worked there! Plus, the Burl Ives' TV special, a re-release on DVD of the SDC videotape released initially about 1990, and re-releases of the Christmas tapes they've had over the years!

Again, what a great idea that they could have done this year for the 50th Anniversary! I love that Silver Dollar City is such a humble park, but come on, the four, or five sound bits on the 50th Anniversary website is simply not enough to satisfy the appetites of us die hard fans. :D

As a guy who worked for 20 years in the media (radio, TV, newspapers) I was always amazed at how disposable the stories were that I worked on. They aired for a 24 hour period, were tossed in a file cabinet for a couple of years as required by FCC, and then...tossed out. As a news reporter, I recorded and reported on the current events of the towns I worked in. I felt, in some respects, I was a historian, recording things as they happened. I have a personal archive that I wish I had the money to print books about the things I covered. Meeting & interviewing Bill Clinton, Mike Huckabee, John Danforth, Kit Bond, John Ashcroft, Dale Bumpers, David Pryor, Mary Steenburgen, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, and many, many others. SDC has a huge archive of sound recordings, videos, films, photographs, and artifacts...just sitting in file cabinets and in storage rooms, and they do nothing with! I suppose marketing does not want to make the huge investment in time and money that it could take to produce a coffee table book with photos and descriptions of the things in the archive. It really is too, too bad! From what I remember seeing in storage and maintenance rooms from when I worked there, for the SDC fan, it is a treasure trove of items! A stroll through what they used to call the "atmosphere barn" for a hardcore fan would be
a dream for the hardcore SDC fan!
