Some of you may enjoy Sting's new Symphonicity.
Nice sound Tony, I played bass in a band for 3-4 years during and after high school, and drums for a few bands here and there since those days. We recorded in a "real" studio once, and in a basement every other time. NOthing much to show for it except alot of gear that collects dust since all my band mates hurriedly moved away to Cali and Oregon. Both have had great success w/ music there, and have done very well for themselves. It has given me time to establish a family, and a name for myself in art. Someday I will get back to an open mic night or something like that to finish that chapter of my life on my own terms.
That's cool, Rube. Anytime you feel like making a little demo and coming to Tulsa, I have a pretty nice little home studio upstairs. Best of all, it's free! Open invitation, too.
Sounds like a pretty good setup. I've heard Tony's results on line, too. It's an offer that's hard to refuse. If you two get together to make some music, ya gotta post it for us so we can enjoy the results, too.
Bluegrass (gospel and otherwise)
Country
Red Dirt
Classic Rock
Classical
I am a big fan of The Doors, anything 80's, most country, and drum roll please...............BLUEGRASS!!!
Here's one I bet you guys haven't heard of: Dougie MacLean from Scotland. He's an awesome songwriter. Check him out on Amazon. I think his best album is "Craigie Dhu" from his early work. Best song: "Caledonia". Check him out, it is well worth your time. That is all. As you were.
I worked in a music store in Old Town Chicago in the 60's....met and talked to Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin,Jimi Hendricks, Beach Boys and many others.Got a signed Fender from Jimi that I won't sell for any money.....a friend of mine was in Janis' band (Big Brother and the Holding Company) until he got sent up for heroin....A lot of memories, good and bad. Too many great singers, song writers and musicians destroyed by drugs,
To all you Traditional music and Bluegrass fans...here is something I would highly recommend if you can go: The "YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND's HARVEST MUSIC FESTIVAL" will be held at Mulberry Mountain, north of Ozark, Arkansas on Arkansas Highway 23 on October 14-15-16. The event site at Mulberry Mountain has fast become a fantastic place in northwest Arkansas for arts and crafts shows, and outstanding outdoors music festivals in the last three years. On four stages, music each day from about noon through at least 10 or 11pm at night. It is about two and a half hours south of Branson. Here is the line-up for the main stage: Dirtfoot, Cornmeal, Martin Sexton, Brett Dennen, Railroad Earth, Big Smith, The Travelin' McCourys, Donna the Buffalo, Split Lip, Leftover Salmon, Younder Mountain String Band, Oakhurst, Infamous Stringdusters, Emmit Nershi Band, Sam Bush, and Keller Williams and the Keels.
COST: $159 for three day pass, $99 for two day pass, $69 for the Oct. 16th shows only. For additional info: www.yonderharvestfestival.com
WOW!!! Why are bluegrass festivals so darn expensive?
It costs a lot to stage an event, plus pay the bands. I understand this is a great venue, a wonderful place to enjoy music in the sun and moon light.
Got to get my bluegrass on today. Violet was out there at the craft festival and she let me play again. I got video of it and will be posting it soon!
John Denver, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Harry Chapin, garth Brooks
I like mostly classic rock. Of course I know the definition of "classic" varies from one person to another.
1 Journey...Don't Stop Believin'... need I say more?
2 Styx
3 REO Speedwagon
4 The Eagles
5 Aerosmith
6 Van Halen
7 Def Leppard
8 38 Special
9 Boston
10 Poison
Has anybody on here seen Journey when Steve Perry was lead? Arnel Pineda does an excellent job...but I would have loved to see the band when Steve was singin'.

You're probably already aware of this. But just in case, Mountain View, Arkansas might be worth looking into if it isn't too far of a drive for ya. Although rock music is more
my scene, my mother loves
bluegrass/folk music and goes here like twice a month and seems to think the prices are great.

The Mountain View Festival is always a big deal here in Arkansas. I have been several times, and it is truly a great way to enjoy a peaceful afternoon listening to live bluegrass music being performed. :)
The 8th Annual Mountain View Fall Bluegrass Festival is coming November 11, 12 and 13. It's 20 bucks per day or $55 for all three days.

Turkey Track near Waldron is a good festival (disclaimer: it's over 25 years since I was last there).

The October festival is already over. The next one will be in June. Cost is $60 for 4 days, plus $4-8 per day for camping, depending on your hookups.
