With the location chosen for the new Fire in the Hole, and now the expansion of the exposition area, it seems like the fringe on the most northeastern edge of the park has been the focus. What I'm trying to wrap my head around, with the 1,200 acres purchased in the opposite direction, is why? Why wasn't the thought to make improvements(Fire in the Hole) on the western edge? Has the delay of the front gate/hospitality house improvements suggest a new gate to the west? Any improvements to reduce or eliminate choke points would be welcomed.

Branson Talk / Re: Homestay Inn 2014, 417 336 2666

In addition to higher utilities cost and gasoline, the cost of food, especially meat is just crazy! It is disappointing Homestay has delayed their opening, but it might be for the better long term by minimizing early season losses due to lack of visitors.
In visiting the area in the last few years, the Branson area feels tired, lost. Fewer big name theaters, vacant buildings or lots, fewer outlet stores. We miss Celebration City, we enjoyed the laser light show and the sox hop after. It seems what we would spend days trying to fit in our schedule we can now accomplish in two. The baseball complex, especially with themed replica stadiums might be an enjoyable evening attraction to visit. Do a little shopping (outlet sporting goods stores?) and grab a bite to eat? Soccer in big in the KC area, what if Branson could land a team?

A SDC resort, with it's own entrance, access to SDC? Maybe connected to the park by the Frisco train? Something styled along the lines of a Great Wolf Lodge?? SDC is already in the lodging business, the Wilderness, why not take the next step? It could be open year round, create winter-time employment for some. Just a thought.

Any pictures of new coaches? Do they differ much? Is there a complete set. Are these rebuilds or totally new cars, if new, how will the old ones be re-purposed? Wasn't one of the static displayed locomotives going to be restored?

Random Talk / Re: The Great Passion Play: Signs of the Times?

In addition, although it's not new, the Railroad in Eureka Springs hasn't had an operating steam locomotive in years. Memories of the good old days. I should thank my parents for the trips to Dogpatch, Passion Play, Eureka Spring RR, SDC, and Shepard of the Hills. I've shared a few of these with my kids, some have held up to the test of time and some not. As an adult I have returned to Eureka Springs, got married there and have attended a scooter rally. Made a trip to Turpentine animal sanctuary. I guess somethings are always evolving.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Craftsman Downsizing

We have always loved the demonstrations of the crafts. But i must confess, other then candy, candles, and other small inexpensive items we haven't sent enough money to support the crafts. I don't know the answer to the made in China problem. My favorite CC coffee mug, made in china! The sheer volume of items stocked at SDC would prevent in house production. US made t-shirts probably don't exist? But anything is possible. I saw a news story of a small company in the US making chop sticks, made to ship overseas. Maybe Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation could open a small operation to produce just one item, (t-shirt) in a nondescript warehouse and supply all their parks with a US made t-shirts. It could provide new jobs in the Branson area or provide off season work for some park employees? Just a thought!

Is this for real? Sponsored by or allowed by SDC? Can anyone confirm? If it has to be, then keep it out by the front gate. Really?? Very disappointing to hear about this!

Has anyone or can any one get a side view picture of the car? I would assume they would replace more then one car a year? As it appears to be of new construction (?), an older car could continue to run to maintain capacity until enough newer cars show up? I suppose there would be some sort of testing period? Maybe the newer car isn't compatible with the older cars? Just an inquiring mind looking for details.

Any pictures of the new coach yet? Is the new car being held until there is a complete set of new cars? With the old coach donated to the Ichabod's train crash site, is the new car constructed of all new materials, hence a brand new car? The car at the crash site doesn't appear to have the trucks with it, did the new car get the old car's trucks (wheel sets). Can anyone confirm this?

I agree okiebluegrass! Other then the wooden coaster idea, nothing else on the list would be too cost prohibitive. Does anyone know if anyone from SDC reads or posts here? The free market research available here costs them nothing!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: SDC Ride Accessibility Policy
August 23, 2011, 11:55:12 AM
We were at SDC a few weeks ago and my sister utilized the new system. In glancing at her form they stamp, it looks like you can only ride each ride once this way? Or you could just pick up a new form once you have filled the form out. My sister was using a crutch so it wasn't as difficult to visit each ride to get a ride time assigned. I could see traveling around the park in a wheel chair to visit each ride once to sign up for a ride time, then going back and revisiting each ride to actually ride as tiring and problematic. We were glad there was a policy to utilize, yet maybe it is to complicated.

Branson Talk / Re: Eagles Lodge

We stayed at Eagles Lodge on Friday night and the room was great!! I'm don't know much about their operation or how long they have owned this motel, but it was very obvious that our room had recently been updated (especially the bathroom)! We were only in town long enough to do WW Friday and SDC Saturday. We were probably in the room no more then 10 hours, just long enough to sleep. We didn't meet Pagie, but the staff we interacted with were very friendly an pleasant! My daughter just had to get her picture with the monster truck parked out front. Wished we could have stayed Saturday night for the car show parade. Thanks Eagles Lodge!!

Where is the passenger car being taken to for the rebuild? Is it done locally or at another property with a railroad shop such as Dollywood or Stone Mt.? Is it just one car a season or will they be able to do whole set during the winter?
