Hey Guys. I'll be in town the week after next. I had really been hoping that Missouri Mountain would be open on the Landing by then, but it doesn't look like that's happening. So I was looking to check out Copper Run Distillery. Has anybody been out there recently/before? Is it worth the short drive to check it out? Thanks!

Other Parks / Re: Suggestions for visiting Cedar Point
July 11, 2015, 11:36:35 PM
I'd just like to add that while Wicked Twister may seem like a standard shuttle type, it's always been one of my personal favorites. It being right on the beach adds to the experience. On that same note, the Windseeker is pretty bloody terrifying at night in the dark. Some pretty strong wind gusts come off the lake up there at night and can really give the swings a good shaking/rocking. It was one of the few times I've prayed for a ride to end swiftly . Finally, as far as terrible-for-you but kind of awesome junk food goes, the elephant ears are pretty solid. I know you can get them at the stands back by Maverick.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: New times
July 11, 2015, 11:28:43 PM
One of the people who I live with also owns a season pass this year, and he got the Times sent to him this month. (I assume they only send one per household). Long story short, I'd like to get some of those coupons as well and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way I could call or email to get my own copy? I always enjoy a number of the moonlight madness coupons and they'd be very helpful when I go the week after next.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Breakfast Buffet at Molly's Mill
July 11, 2015, 11:24:16 PM
When I attended Bluegrass and Barbecue in May I had the breakfast buffet, and I think It cost right around $7.99 or $8.99, but for some reason I don't remember for certain. And yes, season pass holders get a very nice 20% discount on the breakfast buffet. I always really enjoy this buffet, and they had added some new mini cinnamon rolls which I thought were a nice addition.

^I'm aware that they are there, they just bug me.
^^Most Six Flags Parks and lots of other parks have 'Slingshots', bungee trampolines, bungee jumping towers quite similar to the types of things you can find along the 76 strip. I've always found them gaudy, and unnecessary.

I agree that SFSTL was a bit rough around the edges in the 2006-2010 years, but overall I've been pretty pleased with the direction of the park over the last few years. They've really put in some much needed aesthetic work and Fright Fest continues to get better every year. While I will admit to remaining annoyed by the addition of the 'Brand New' Boomerang in 2013, the New Justice Leage: Battle For Metropolis more than makes up for it. I finally got out to the park and used my pass for the first time this season last weekend, and really enjoyed the ride! A particular sequence involving a car chase does an amazing job of making you feel like you're flying at fast speeds. Flooded Mine is still my personal favorite (nostalgia and childhood memories are powerful), but JL is a very solid dark ride. Did you get to ride it yet, Captain Tom? I'm planning on getting out there again very soon, just have to renew my scopalamine script. Maybe I'll see you there.

Branson Talk / Re: Dolly acquires Lumberjack Feud / What about Pirates
June 22, 2015, 02:56:37 AM
I saw the Lumberjack Fued last summer when I was in Pigeon Forge. It was actually quite an enjoyable show. The food was good (I'd say Dixie Stampede's is a bit better), and learning some history of logging/lumber jacking in the area was pretty cool. I'd say I like Dixie Stampede a bit more overall, but the audience participation in the Lumberjack Fued is far above that in the Stampede. It was fun, I'd certainly see it again.

Random Talk / Re: The Newbies Thread
June 22, 2015, 02:41:55 AM
Hey Guys. I'm a long time off-and-on lurker. I first discovered the site in the Fall of 2010 searching for new ride rumors (so cliché, I know). I never officially joined because I got so wrapped up in working on my B.S. and A.M. My first memory of the park is riding FITH when I was three. I live just outside of St. Louis and buy season passes to both SDC and SFSTL every year, but I go to SDC a lot more often than Six Flags. (One of the few perks of being in the last two years of my PhD and being a theorist is that I can take multiple vacations a year and nobody really notices...). SDC/Branson is pretty much my favorite place to be and I look forward to being part of this community going forward.
