I love coasters but I'm certainly not an expert. That said, I expect it depends on the technology used. For example, on a mountain or alpine coaster I would expect the technology to be less elaborate than that used at SDC. JMHO.

Random Talk / Re: Your Travels Thread (2021)

Other than not-yet-planned trips to Silver Dollar City and Branson for 2021, we're planning a trip to Fort Walton Beach with 2 of our kids and their spouses and a total of 5 Grands (out of 7). Runner, you will love the trip to Estes Park and RMNP! Other than the time we spend with Grands (and their parents) that's one of our favorite vacations from the last 20 years.

Lights are still on but Christmas shows won't operate, including the parades. We've gone on New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time.

we were there yesterday and last night (Sunday) and didn't notice any Wildfire damage but I wasn't looking for any. What I did notice was a handful of people who don't know that the nose is a part of the respiratory system and people who couldn't figure out Silver Dollar City's well-thought out social distancing set-up for viewing the parade. Even without Covid, I appreciate and observe a phenomena known as 'personal space'. Evidently, I'm in the minority.

I've seen outrage on facebook but not here so far. My wife and I are disappointed because 2 of our Grands will be here from Colorado (ages 6 and 4) and wearing a mask really isn't an option at those ages. But, that's okay. We and they love trips to Silver Dollar City but we're not in charge. Thanks to Brad Thomas and everyone at SDC for what is an almost impossible task--trying to function as America's best theme park and keep all their guests happy in the face of a worldwide pandemic.

with all due respect to everyone asking questions, no one is certain about how anything is going finally work out at Silver Dollar City or any business directly affected by the pandemic. I know we all want answers and eventually we will get them but it's going to take some time and patience.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Starbucks in the park?

"...however I don't bash or hate on anyone just because Carole Baskin tells me to..."
I have no idea who Carole Baskin is so she's not involved in my disdain for Starbucks. However, when the chain owner says '...don't come in my stores if you're a conceal carry person...' (I'm not, for the record) then I'm done with them.

I do drink coffee but never Starbucks because their principles/values and mine are not compatible. I don't see them being a good fit for Silver Dollar City.

1 hour and I think I can squeeze in 4--opening flag raising, Wildfire, Time Traveler, and Outlaw Run!

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Its a Wonderful Life

The only thing that is a constant in life-as well as at Silver Dollar City-is change. That said, my wife and I really liked It's A Wonderful Life-The Musical. The execution, the acting, just every aspect was broadway quality. Plus how many actors get to do dance routines in a wheelchair with attractive young ladies?!? Honestly, the negative comments surprised me, but that's why there was more than one show.

don't forget about after Christmas day. Silver Dollar City is open on both New Years Eve and New Years Day.

Our oldest 2 Grandsons did the ride several years ago and had the time of their lives! I was in Branson for work at the same time and caught up with them the day after and had so much fun hearing about it from them. It's well worth the expense and trouble of getting tickets.

Any "A-Listers" on here at the opening? From what I've seen on FaceBook, it looks like a fun time was had by all.

Lovely bride and I made a spur of the moment trip yesterday. Great decision! Terrific performances during Southern Gospel Picnic and, for someone like me who loves those coasters, hardly any ride lines! SGP really is the best time to go to the park to ride roller coasters.
