;D I'm pretty certain this is the bank i'm talking about.  its from the late 70's, so it fits in with the time correctly.

i've always wondered, do the workers at silver dollar city actually make all the food you see at the park that is sealed up, like as in the cans of sauce, candies, and anything else sealed?  Or is that actually done somewhere else?

Well, most of the float trips taken by the people I know involve lots of alcohol, so maybe seeing dwarves actually is part of the whole experience.  that, and pink elephants, purple aligators, flying cars, and other random halucinations.  :)

I was at SDC on saturday and actually had to wait in line for TFM.  Ok, what is the deal with the little room right before the loading areas?  I'm mainly talking about the picture on the wall that has the projection of a man talking showing on it.  Who is that guy?  what is he actually saying?  what is the whole point of this?  is it supposed to be a ghost or something?  Just always intrigued me and i'd forgotten about it until saturday.

also noticed in the mine that the guy with the jackhammer now sports a santa clause style beard and the teeth are missing on the rock.
Also noticed a sheet hanging over the 'window' right before you go back into the loading area to get off.  i guess some people dont like getting a little water on them from the cannon blast?  I never noticed that the blast area on the left of the tracks had been covered up as well.
And finally, the dummy hanging on the rock holding is gone.  The one right after you exit the mine.  Kinda makes no sense for the cannon boat to be firing now really, as before they were shooting at the escaping convict i thought.  I never did ever understand what the guys in the boat ever said to.  Something like rerdhsflsj erelwhl, fire!

I rode the boggan for the first time in probably 10 years on saturday.  I used to think it kinda sucked because it was so smooth and you barely got wet.  On saturday, my nephews and my older son wanted to ride it so i agreed to do it.  i usually dont ride mainly because of the hike up the tower and i have a bad leg so its hard for me to climb it.  Holy crap!  this thing went fast and you got UBER wet now!  it was a blast!  we decided to do it again not long after the first time.  man, that was water was freezing too.  It gets you LOTS wetter than the lost river now.  On the second trip, we were on the last landing before you go up to get on and the line halted for a long time.  When we finally got up there, my son asked what was going on and the guy said they had a 1066 biohazard.  so, my son and i both said 'somebody puked huh?'.  :D
we had to climb across one side and get on the raft in the other lane, as did everyone else on our side.
speaking of rafts, whatever happened to the old foam ones that looked like actual wood?

Why did they take the cover off of this ride too?

i was there on saturday from opening till close (10pm) and we rode the train at around 530-6pm.  They did the shorter version of the skit (without the part of recognizing their mom on the train).  Things i noticed was the flatness of the conductor.  Some of the lines were ommitted, like 'ladies put your feet down' and just running jokes together without the right delivery.
Also, where did the caboose right outside of wilsons farm come from?  It looks very old but i dont remember it.
It looked like there were a couple new dummies (the man and woman at the fire) at the hobo caboose, yet the poor dummy in the barrel taking a shower looked like he was falling apart.  i dont know if it was supposed to be some kind of new material to make it look like bubbles on his head or if his head had actual damage to it that has made it explode and the innards coming out.  Poor old thing.  I know it is at least 30 years old as its always been there since i've came.  The elements have not been kind.
Whats the deal with there now being a new area for the holdup skit, yet on down the tracks was the old one?
The little "4 story mansion" was gone.  This is the first year in probably 3 years i've gone to SDC, so this stuff may not be new.

thats some great pics!  thanks!
i'm glad somebody said there was a second tunnel because i too remember there being another.  It seemed like it was bigger and was much straighter than the other one.  THIS is the place i'm pretty sure they had the hulk piggy bank.  Why it was there?  i have no clue.

Man, i wish there was like a source (literature or an interview) all about these old rides like the float trip and diving bell.  Is that door thats closed in that picture where you got on the float trip?

thank you rube for posting that!  brings back good memories.  wish i still had those books and i wish they still sold them, but i know they couldnt because of how obsolete it would be.  Are there any videos out there showing the diving bell or maybe better videos than the one from youtube showing the float trip?  I was alive when both were still there but too young to really remember anything.  Well, unless you count a stupid incredible hulk piggy bank that i think my mind has decided to randomly stick in my brain for some odd reason.  :D
Now that you all mention the gnomes though, it does seem some part of me remembers them in there somehow.  I didnt realize the float trip went backwards.  pretty interesting.  Do they still use the old channels for anything at all now?  It seems kinda odd they'd still have them after all these years, plus still have water going through them.  I'm assuming you used to get on board your boat at the line-overflow house for the american plunge?
They really need to do something with that cave, aka cement tunnel now in the AP.  That thing is a disgrace.  totally sad.  That and fix the guy in the whirlpool.

A couple other memory things: is it true a boy scout jumped in there to save the whirlpool guy once?  Also, did they used to have people balancing on logs in front of the waterfall?  Thanks!

i think it makes each trip unique when they add their own touches to the show.  I hate it when you get on a ride such as this and it just feels and sounds like the person talking is reading everything off a sheet of paper with no interest or emotion in it.

i think it'd be funny if the gun didnt fire at the end and what their response would be.  wonder if thats happened before.  :D

yep!  thats the book i was talkin about.  you dont happen to have pics from the coloring books do you?

oh, i know about the guy in the little ticket booth.  The guy i'm talking about appeared on the other end of the bridge, right next to the first building on the right.  I believe it was probably one of the little street performances that used to happen so often back then.  He might not have been in a box.  like i said, it was a very long time ago.  (30 years or so).

Thats cool you still have those coloring books.  i tried to find images online of that or the book about the little woodcarved puppet but cant find anything at all.

Oh, i kinda like it when they mess up and know it.  I've seen the skit done so many times it offers something new and funny.  I could understand if it was your first time seeing it though.
I'm pretty sure the part they cut out when its busy is the whole thing about their mom bein on the train, then they go and pick some lady to play their mom.  I like it when the lady actually goes along with it and says shes their mom.  :D

i seem to remember when i was very very small my parents took us on the train and there were 4 (or even more than 4) people doing the skit.  it was more like a beverly hillbillies type skit than a holdup i think.
