Thanks for sharing the pictures, but for some reason I was thinking DW's Flooded Mine was located up near where Daredevil Falls is now.  But, sometimes my memory fails me!

Congratulations History Buff!  Very nice award.

We were at Dollywood last week and experienced the same thing.  Crazy long lines at all the restaurants. Two of our favorites were closed--Granny Ogles and Miss Lillian's Smokehouse. That was disappointing. However, it appeared they might have help on the way. There were a lot of international students who appeared to be in training. Several times you would see one or two people operating a ride with three new employees following them around watching. But, as has been mentioned, several smaller stands were closed. On Wednesday last week the posted wait time for Lightning Rod got up to 130 minutes. Sometimes it felt like we had to wait in line just to wait in line!

Other Parks / Re: Kentucky Kingdom/WA/FC Rumor

Nashville would be a nice location for their corporate headquarters. Especially if they ever wanted to develop and build a new theme park in Nashville.  Those rumors have popped up from time to time through the years--mainly Dolly headlining something there.  A park in Nashville would give them a nice footprint in that part of the country. I would think they could upsale all park passes like crazy in that scenario.  I live in Southern Illinois and I know I would snap one up.  I can't imagine the Holiday World folks are too excited about improved competition in Louisville.

Just saw where Holiday World announced they plan to open June 14th.

The visitor's center at Tablerock Dam is a neat place to spend an hour or two. We have always enjoyed looking through the museum at College of the Ozarks, though it has been a few years. I assume it is still open.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2018 Trip Reports

When we rode the train on the Sunday before Christmas we had a grandpa; however, his microphone quit working so we didn't get to hear his story. Very disappointing after waiting in a long line.

I thought I read where they expanded tomorrow's (Sunday) hours.  They are opening one hour earlier tomorrow, at noon.

I just took the survey.  Lot's of questions about different pricing scenarios for season passes and combination tickets that include SDC, Whitewater and maybe a cruise on the Showboat.  It seems like they are seriously considering different types of season passes at different pricing levels.  Season passes that are only good for certain months of the year, are good for only weekdays or weekends, passes that exclude holidays, and so on and so forth.  They listed several season pass pricing scenarios, none of which really appealed to me.  I just hope they don't price (and limit access) me and my family out of the game.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Refill Cups

My dollar mug has the subject to change message on it too. I just didn't get to see it until after I had bought it. They kind of glossed over that detail in their sales pitch.  They focused more on the dollar refills for as long as I had the mug and what a great deal that would be.  Oh well, that was many years ago.  Maybe they had the subject to cancellation wording on their sign and I just missed it.  My bad.  I don't think anyone is saying they are not within their rights to backtrack on the various deals. They clearly are.  It is just frustrating and disappointing. Is the extra money worth some lost goodwill? The powers that be apparently say "yes".

I agree with Sanddune on this one. SDC should honor what they said they would do. 50 cents will not break me; but it won't break SDC either. Now I realize in the overall scheme of things it adds up to real money for the park. It's just frustrating. Not surprising, but still frustrating. We have the dollar mugs. In the future, instead of getting a few dollars here and there from our refills the park won't get anything because we won't lug them with us anymore and we'll just drink water. Not really ticked off, just disappointed and frustrated. I realize it's all about making more money...even if it means backing out of a long ago deal!

Enjoyed watching the Huckabee show tonight that was taped at SDC a few weeks ago.  Great publicity for Silver Dollar City and Branson.  I think it airs again tomorrow night a couple of times and a second episode airs next weekend.  Nice, short interview with Jack and Pete and the new Governor of Missouri.

Showboat show was fairly good in my opinion. Lots of singing and dancing. Was hoping for a bit more comedy and magic mixed in though. They don't serve pink lemonade any more and my wife didn't like that.  She said the food wasn't as good as year's past. She did not like the chicken, said it had a weird taste.
