They should go ahead and re-do the powderkeg theme song while they are at it, lol.

I loved the PK theme song...I wish they would release it!

Did anyone else notice the LARGE roller coaster in the background of the concept art? Maybe they're hinting at the next big coaster for the park! Obviously, that's just speculation but I don't think they would go out of their way to put it there if it didn't have any significance.

I was just about to ask the same question. That is a rather large coaster in the artwork. Obviously, it doesn't reference location because if it were, it'd be across Hwy 76.

What a great announcement! The SDC team and Validate Productions did a fantastic job. It's great to see the park turn something that is truly part of it's heritage and history and make it new. Also, having Dailey & Vincent remaster the song was genius!

I went to the park twice on Saturday. I visited in the morning for a few of hours from about 8:30-11:30 and then in the evening from 8-10 p.m. Saturday started off cool and breezy with a little rain. We went and had breakfast at the Molly's, which was phenomenal. There was a line to get in that stretch almost clear back to the gazebo, I'm sure the rain caused people to want to go inside...however, it didn't take too long to get in. We then walked around the park and went to the Spoken 4 Quartet show at the Boatworks Theatre, highly recommend. Afterwards, we were going to ride the train, but a weather phase 2B was called and they shut it down and took the train back to the roundhouse.

We came back in the evening to walk around a bit. It was nice the park was open until 10. I will say, without Pumpkin Nights or Christmas lights, the park gets rather dark in areas after twilight. We were able to ride FITH, FSDL and TNT. All rides were walk-ons with PK being the only ride shutdown. FITH had four trains going, which seemed like a lot, but not complaining. TNT has one train (Green) as the other train was dismantled and only had 3 cars on the track in the maintenance area. I will say this about TNT...it was brutal. Now, in defense, I sat in the back row, but wow it was rough, and not just in the tunnel, it was everywhere. The only smooth part was the drop after the lift hill. I am not a fan of closing old Arrow Mine Trains, nor am I saying it needs to be...but for the first time ever, the thought of "this ride is in it's final days" did cross my mind, which was sad to think about. Overall, we had a great time, as we always do. I personally love the "Ozarks" theming in the merchandise and marketing. I live in Tulsa and we see SDC billboards all over town and TV commercials all the time with the Ozarks brand.

From the pictures I saw...it looked like the incident yesterday happened with the "older" cars. The accident in October was with the "newer" cars, but engine 504 was pulling both trains when these rare occurrences happened. Not sure if there's any correlation there, just an observation.

In my opinion, the incident yesterday, even though a car "derailed" is no different than something happening with a roller coaster that has a mechanical issue and stops at the top of a lift hill and people have to evacuate. A ride had an issue which enacted safety systems to prevent disaster. Now, there is a huge difference in a roller coaster derailing and a train, but my point is that the safety systems that had been implemented worked and no one was hurt. Yes, it says one person was, but if you decline first aid, you're not really hurt. Although it is scary and when you hear "derailment" you fear the worst, whether that's an Amtrak train or the FSDL, but IMO SDC's new safety systems, that were recommended by the state of Missouri, worked and did their job. It shouldn't prevent you from ever riding it again, if that's how you fell, but to each their own.

I would raise the question as to when the park just replaces the track of the entire layout. I know that takes time, money, etc...but maybe that's the next conclusion...idk, I'm not an expert, just a loving fan of the FSDL that wants to see it run another 60 years without injury, fear and bad PR, just like before.

All the rides seemed to be running well with two trains on Powder Keg and Time Traveler all three days and two trains on Wildfire and Outlaw Run on Saturday. Thunderation still only has one train available.

Genuinely curious if Powder Keg still has three trains available? Or has one been taken out of service and used for spare parts or out for refurb.?

In my opinion, that ride should never run fewer than two trains...ever...
I understand the reasons when only one train is operating, but I think the ride length/time is too long to only operate one train. Again, just my opinion.

While there is a divide between old SDC and new SDC...it is still way better than your average theme park. In Missouri, it blows Worlds of Fun and Six Flags St. Louis out of the water. So what if it's "covered in roller coasters" it's 2022 and that's what the new generation is going for. It pays the bills. Plus, it's not like the coasters are sitting right there in the middle of the park, they're all hidden in their own way.

There is still plenty of old SDC for everyone to enjoy. The festivals are incredibly themed and fun to attend and the only one that has seemed to be omitted from years past is World Fest. Just because things may not be the same as they were 5, 10 or 20 years ago, doesn't make it bad. To say "they've stopped caring a long time ago" is a complete insult to the citizens who have put a lot of time and effort to making SDC a national destination.

Not sure but the Herschends are still looking at some lawsuits regarding Ride The Ducks which may or may not fall back on them.  Like you say "We shall See".

Herschend Family Entertainment was not the owner of Ride the Ducks at the time of that incident in 2018. Ripley Entertainment out of Orlando were the owners of Ride the Ducks in Branson at that time. Herschend sold Ride the Ducks in 2012.

From the video I saw on Facebook, it looks like engine 504 was running. The tender looked partially derailed with car 1 off the rails at a 45 degrees. Cars 2 and 3 completely off at 90 degrees. Car 4 didn't derail. The location looked like it was back over in the "Pottersville, Missouri" area. Ironically, that would be close to where the "old wreck of 82" is said. My father in law listens to the scanners and has heard many injuries, approximately 68 "green" and 3 "yellow" with 1 being transported to Springfield.

Praying for those hurt and injured!

Loved the announcement. The new Heartland Home Furnishings looks great. Glad they're bringing it and Fried Fancies back.

It was definitely no coincidence he was standing in front of Fire in the Hole...also if you listen, you can hear the FITH audio of "the dang baldknobbers stole'em" as the Wildfire train goes by...clever.

Season passes go on sale Monday!

Went to the park on Saturday (9/24) and we had a great time. We arrived at the park around 3 p.m. and stayed until the park closed (10 p.m.). The crowds were fantastic. You could tell the park was "busy" but definitely manageable. I would say for a Saturday, the crowd was probably below-average, but that's just a guess. There weren't any long lines and staffing did not seem to be an issue.

This is the time of the year I don't ride many rides, we like to go and try the food with the tasting passports and walk around and enjoy the City. However, we did ride the train, FM and FITH. The train was great as always. I've always thought it'd be cool if they were to do a silly "ghost train" this time of year, but that's just my opinion and I understand why they don't. Flooded Mine continues to be a disappointment. I just sit in the boat now as our guns didn't work again and the animatronics seem to be...well...dead. I walked on FITH around 8:30 and there was no line at all. They were still operating 3 trains according to the chalkboard. Ride was great and everything seemed to be working. The only ride not operating was MRF, but around 8:30 they started pumping water through the channel...not sure if they were testing or if it eventually opening, i don't know.

Pumpkin Nights is one of my favorite times to go to the park. It's great to be there with all the lights on cooler evenings. As always, I highly recommend the tasting passport. Well worth the money. We had multiple full-size portions with our punches.

I was at the park today. I was surprised by the low attendance, but then remembered school had started along with football. However, it was nice to be there on a lighter day. Hardly any rides and all rides were open, including MRF. MRF opened around 3pm. A few notes from today:

As Swoosh said, the park has fenced off more of the area by Lumbercamp and has taken down the big Wildfire Sign. I really hope they put that sign back up, I've always thought it was neat.
All coasters were walk ons for me. PK was running 2 trains and as we were on the break run, I looked through the window in the door of the garage and saw the third train inside.

Something of interest- I rode FITH and as I was waiting to board I asked the ride op if it was going to close after this season. I specially said, "I know you probably can't say, but is the ride closing after this season?" The operator looked at me, shook their head no, and said "not to our knowledge, but after next season..." he then stopped and lifted his hands in the "who knows" motion. I fully wasn't expecting a straight answer, but did find his response intriguing. Not trying to speculate, but wanted to share that interaction.

It was a great day in the City!

Just had a wonderful night at Moonlight Madness. We arrived about 6:30 and left at 11:30. The crowds were very manageable as we got a couple of tasting passports and used all the punches, watched the Echo Hollow show and fireworks, and rode several rides (TNT, FITH, FM, WF and the Train). It was a very nice night in the Ozarks. Now bring on Pumpkin Nights!

The only things I would comment about is Flooded Mine needs some TLC and Grandfather's Mansion was like Grandfather's Sauna...it felt like the heat was blasting in that place.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Citizen injured

Just looked on the app and TNT shows it's open...

Ahh...that could explain it. I was with a group today and we left around 5:30. I noticed on the app around 7:30 that PK had a 20 minute wait, so I'm guessing it opened in the evening. I'll be back Saturday evening so hopefully will get to ride then.

MRF didn't open until around 2:45 today. Our group got in line when the water started rushing through the channel and waited about 40 minutes for it to open...not sure what it's problem was.
