I was employed three different summers at SDC - '78, '80, and '83. I played the English boxer 'Percy' in the original Boxing Show in 1978. I was only 19 at the time, and was there for the summer as part of the Young Life discipleship program that year. What a fun show it was, and Wayne Milnes was one of the funniest guys I'd ever met, let alone work with. Every time I got to do the show with him he made it his 'Tim Conway' business to make all of us break character and laugh. Especially loved the mini trampoline built into the floor of the ring for stunts and the rope hanging from the rafters for 'Wilbur' (Wayne) to swing on. Each boxer, the Englishman and the hillbilly, selected their own 'corner girl' to splash water on them between rounds. The basic premise of the show was the English foreigner traveling to throughout the region to take on all comers for a monetary reward. I was loosely based on "City Lights", a Charlie Chaplin movie.
