Hey all, sorry I havent posted for awhile been a busy month.....after six flags, I have a friend who still works out there.  I heard through the grapevine they are planing some big things for the 50th anniversay next year.  There MIGHT be a new rollercoaster.  I do know that this might be the last year for the bumper cars, tidal Wave and my old ride i was a operator on The flying chairs.  Hopefully they will start expanding past that soon.  The park still owns 300 acres of undeveloped land to the right of the screamin eagle.  Also about the coaster, te last couple of years they cut down the queue area from the area due to the fact that the waiting area was too large for the decreased attendance, but just looking at the area it is in such disrepair.  Its really sad that it has gone downhill.  Toms Twister was removed a few years ago.  I do agree that there is much room for improvements.

I think that HFE should buy out Six Flags personally.  They would turn that place around..........

Hey History Buff,  Im a STL convert.......I am originally from a town called Hillsboro in Jefferson County.  I came to STL in 1978.  The area was "pure country" but went down to see my old home and a flippin subdivision popped up and the gravel road is now blacktop with stop signals!  The Sandy Valley Covered bridge was turned into a state park....!  The covered bridge is one of a very few still standing.  I think it was built in the 1880s. Now a National Landmark on the Historical List.  You can take the boy from the country but you cant take the country out of the boy LOL!  Some people even say I have a southern Missouri accent but they havent heard one yet I think!     TIM

The sky way had a mechanical malfaunction.....though it wouldnt surprise me if something else also contributed. When I see people rocky gondolas, either on the big farris wheels or another ride I just cringe.  Saftey rules are there for a purpose.  Anything that involves heights and people acting stupid is never a good combination. DUH!

I would like to tell you of at least THREE GHOSTS that haunt the SFSTL park.  As some may know there were two fatal accidents at the park.  In 1978 a gondola feel from the first arm of the SkyWay.  Three people were killed.  It was revealed that it was a mechanical malfunction, 2 girls and a man died.  The ghost of a little girl has been seen playing in the area where the one arm was located in the former USA (now Studio section of the park).  I personally have seen this spirit in the transfer house located by the mine train.  Also in 1984, a lady was killed on the RAIL BLAZER, a stand up coaster, when it was proved that her husband pushed her out of the car when it went around a bend, her body slamming into a nearby tree.  It was revealed that she enjoyed the shows.  One night I was shutting down "Police Academy Stunt Show" at the Empire Theatre (formally where Sid and Marty Kroffts Puppet Shows were held), I stood on the stage facing the seats stating that we were dark for the evening making sure no one was still in the building.  Out of nowhere a voice stated "IM HERE TIM!".  I decided to say it again, suddenly the "ghost light" a security light above the stage started to swing back and forth, then the temp in the auditorium dropped.  I rushed out of there and turned in the keys.  A supervisor asked what was wrong, I looked like a saw a ghost.  I told them wat happened, and they said I just met "Stella" the woman who died on the coaster.  And then there is the man called "The Pig Man". It is said that the park was the site of a pig farm and the owner refused to let them buy the park.  Someone forced him out, as he was carted away, he placed a curse on the land.  Soon, he died.  It is said that his spirit still roams the park.  One night a friend and I were dowing a sweep in back of the Screamin Eagle, just talking and walking the back service road, we heard pig calls and pig sounds in the distance maybe about 100 feet of us.  There is no farms in the area.  One night I worked overnights at Wardrobe.  I was by myself and there was noone in the building. Out of the corner of my eye there was a older man standing amongst the clothing. When I turned around there was noone there.

Branson Talk / Would anybody like to share......?
April 21, 2010, 09:36:44 PM
If you can tell by my moniker, Im a paranormal enthusiast.  With the deep history that the Ozarks has, has anyone seen or experienced any ghosts in the area?  There is a rumor that Shephard of the Hills is haunted as well as the Dewy Bald area that Branson and SDC is located near?  My sister has camped in the area as well as I, and to tell the truth the area can be a little spooky especially when the fog rolls in.  Care to share?    TIM

I am just in awe on pic of abandoned parks how they just leave things to rot.  Rides that could be sold off to settle debts, along with other things.  If your gonna just walk away, the cty government should level the remains.  SFNW in the 9th district is just sitting there. Rotting.

I worked at Six Flags STL during the years 1995-1998.  I started out at the Admissions area in the entrance to the park.  I soon moved to Operations-Rides then to the Entertainment Department.  During those years it was owned by Time-Warner.  During that time we were still a "theme park" with costumed cast members.  I was a ride operator for THUNDER RIVER, THE SWINGS, GUIDED TOURS for groups, Foghorn Leghorn (I cant remember how many times I was whacked by kids and their parents), plus a troll and a haunted house actor (I actually made a guy pee his pants in front of his girlfriend).  I made ALOT of friends during that time frame and was considering moving down to Branson and working at SDC but the turned me away because I didnt live there long enough and they give first preferance to Branson residences.  I will be looking for old pics from my SFSL days, needless to say when Premeire bought the park in 1998, they let the park go to pot.  Although, this year they have put money into the pak after the bankruptcy reform......supoosedly they are some new ride changes in store for 2011 with some rides from Kentucky Kingdom was closed.  We'll see.     TIM ???
