My neice got married a couple years ago. She used a purple garter from the Saloon show, that we bought for her. You should have seen the face of the girl who caught it when she read the tag stating where it came from. It stirred quite a comotion, but it did cause the girl who caught it, to take a trip to the "city'. So it paid off well.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Should SDC look into this as an addition to a festival?
May 03, 2015, 06:51:48 PM
here in downtown STL. we have a "taste of St louis" event every year. They have many vendors, and lots of musical entertainment. It is always a blowout event. (Of course SDC has/is its own entertainment) but a taste test "sort" of festival, would likely be a huge success

Branson Talk / Re: Progress on new places to eat in Branson
May 03, 2015, 06:44:57 PM
Well I am not real excited about CiCis or Psgettis. Since I have 2 Psgettis within 30 minutes and 1 CiCis 5 more minutes. However. I am happy when ANY business moves in to Branson. I do agree with Sanddune. I would like to see a Texas Roadhouse, or Outback come in to town. (Yes I know Outback - as we know it - can not come in because of the "original" Outback Pub is still in Branson across from Grand Country). The 2 are NOT affiliated at all. I dont want the Pub to leave by any means.

Branson Talk / Re: baldknobbers vs presley's
January 18, 2015, 03:49:55 PM
Well as far as comedy. Presleys is generally one of the funniest. MUSIC?? Well I listen to country when I can, and I am (classic rocked completely to wits end), since that is all just about anybody wants to play these days. Having said that. I like the Presleys over almost any other show. However, if you are a typical "cant stand country-or-cant stand anything except rock" then Presleys or Baldknobbers probably is not the show to see.

Gilligan.
I agree on the blacktop as far as appearance. However (having worked at a blacktop laced SFSL) and now outdoors most of everyday working 2 parking lots (1 all blacktop, and 1 all concrete).
I will take concrete on a hot humid sunny summer day any day of the week. Blacktop is much hotter and gets sticky on the shoe bottoms. Lets keep the concrete and maybe add more. I know concrete is a bit out of theme (maybe), but from a safety/health veiwpoint. I think concrete is better
I believe health/safety/wellfare of people is the most important at the end of the day.

He was Wade Landrys brother. Wade plays a great fiddle. He has performed on many different stages in Branson. Not sure where/if he will perform this season.

Branson Talk / Re: Baldknobbers: Reality TV??
January 12, 2015, 12:54:06 PM
Yes I watched both episodes also. I agree with prior mentions that this type of behind the scenes stuff likely happens at every show. Shoot it happens everywhere. PERIOD. Everywhere, even in many households these days.
--Now maybe the Baldknobbers may be in a little deeper than some "businesses" for two obvious reasons.
1-This company is made up "mostly" of family. (Most "family" businesses need more non-family employees to keep even keel)
2-Look at everything on the Baldknobbers plate! -- A theater, a motel, a restaurant. Any one can be money makers or money losers. Branson has such a high volume of each of these type of places, I cant really imagine any of them making money hand over fist. A small profit-yes-a huge profit-no way. Now if any one of Baldknobbers properties are doing real well, then the other 2 might stay afloat, but if all 3 are doing marginal, then it could be doom real soon.
I think instead of a "reality show" I would opt for a sale/lease of my losing investments and focus on the money maker. Or focus on the most potential property.
I actually worry about this often at my work. The owner of my company owns 8 used car lots. 3 auto repair shops, Rv sales/service dealership, 1 auto body shop, 1 RV body shop, 1 auto/RV detail shop, 1 RV/bus detail shop, 1 towing company, 1 transport company. That is having your hands in many places, any one of which could win/fail in a huge way anytime.

Random Talk / Re: Bigfoot on Table Rock?
January 01, 2015, 12:33:13 PM
I actually see Bigfoot quite often. (About every other week for real).
I have to make a run up to Premeir Auto #1 from STL RV/GMT west. In doing so, I have to pass the big corner of I-270 and N. Lindbergh, The home of BIGFOOT (brand) monster trucks. (St Louis, Mo.)
PS when I was a "pre-teen" kid. The guy who made the original "Bigfoot" monster truck lived in Arnold, Mo. as did a bunch of my family. I used to see Bigfoot driving the highways frequently back then. (BTW) Bigfoot #1 was an early 70s F250 with just big street legal tires, while he replaced them for standard size tractor tires during shows. The truck was very much street legal and driven back then. ---- Not so much today though
Sorry for hijaking this thread, I just couldnt resist though

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Making Plans to visit Next Year, 2015?
December 22, 2014, 08:50:15 AM
well I plan on life as normal, however we do have the 3rd & 4th lunar eclipse coming next year. Soooo, life as normal may not exist.
I do plan to purchase SPs next week, now that SDC offers the new payment options.
With the new Service Manager at work. He has promised me that I may get a few saturdays off next summer, so I plan to visit SDC a few times. I will try to stay away from SDC on the holiday saturdays. Now we have a deep discount card at a local campground. (Who also has 1 location near the Branson area), we will likely get to visit a few times.

Branson Talk / Re: Montana Mike's
December 13, 2014, 06:53:51 PM
Well I guess some people just constantly have good/bad luck on the same thing. Like (this happens to me all the time). A/C. Trust me, we like it cool. If I own something that has an A/C unit, it will fail. Like my house. My furnace is original from when the house was brand new in 1995. However I have replaced 7 A/C units. My last new camper ate 4 A/C units within the first year. My Jeep has had A/C repair 3 times. I just have bad luck with A/C. --- Just like some people just love Ford/Chevy/Dodge/ETC while others wouldnt own one at all.
My Dad was a food appraiser too. Trust me, anywhere we went to eat, his meal was always just terrible. Even though him & I would order the same meal usually and I usually enjoyed mine, his (after having a bite) was indeed always terrible. (In other words, if there was a bad steak or whatever, he would always get it).
Id say go ahead and visit Montana Mikes and Red Lobster I have been to both in Branson. Never had a bad meal at either. If your luck with restaurants is like my Dads, well you might be better off going to Price Chopper, I do understand.

November 03, 2014, 08:32:56 AM
Sandune, Yes we have seen several "Branson" ads here in STL. Honostly I cant remember what attractions they reveal. I know SDC.
I think Branson Zipline
Well let me watch the Presleys again, Im sure they will have the ad a dozen times.

Rube, you did a great job. Having never met you before. I must admit, I didnt picture you as being a young looking clean cut fella. But regardless, you looked great in your green shirt. I just wish GAC would give "you" a copy of the complete taping (without the cuts). I think it would be that keepsake to give to your generations that follow. (well and of course share it with your SDCfans too )
Congrats Rube. Again, you did a fantastic job. WELL DONE!!!

Branson Talk / Re: CiCi's Pizza coming in 2015
October 12, 2014, 09:00:56 PM
Well Im not fond of Cicis. However, it is not at all the worst. having all the kids that my wife babysits, we are always eating at Chuck E Cheese (for a bday party or something). Trust me, CiCis is way way better. However, I still dont much like CiCis.
The Plantation, well It certainly wasnt the very best by any stretch, but there 2 for steak offers was a decent deal, and didnt taste just too bad either (consider the price here). I will miss the Plantation for sure, and do wish they could have conjured up something better than CiCis
