I agree. As much as I love American Plunge, it has needed an upgrade for a long time. It just hasn't been the same ever since they took out all the theme in the cave.
I'm all for a change to the Plunge.

Why did SDC acquire this property in the first place? Wasn't it a theme park/carnival prior to becoming CC?

No pics, but I did once get to be one of the "crankers" in the ride; they were children who turned crack-powered pumps to remove the water from the diving bell (at least that is what I recall from my very early years). I remember being extremely stressed about the situation and didn't understand why my pump wasn't working correctly.

I once rode the Waterboggan with Yakov!

Thank you so much for the reply. I can still hear the strange music from the treehouse in my head.

Great thread. I always swore to people that the plunge used to be a different ride (without the actual plunge at the end). The outhouse was a part of the plunge early on, as was the cave, and drowning guy. Thanks for making me feel a little more sane regarding my early childhood memories.

We just returned from SDC today and, for the life of me, I can't figure out how Splash Harbor changed. There were still water cannons and targets at Geyser Gulch; what used to be there in addition to what is there now?
Descriptions and pictures would certainly be appreciated.
Oh, and while I'm at it, what's going on with the Treehouse? I assumed that it had become unsafe in some way, but that was always my favorite attraction as a child. Climbing the concrete tree and going into the treehouse (which had giant punching bags added during a later year) represent wonderful memories. I also recall various exits, one of which included a dark faux cave filled with Christmas lights.
Thanks.
