General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Train Crash?

Just to be clear the bogies "trucks" still sitting on the tracks isn't an odd thing at a derailment. Generally the cars are not physically secured to the trucks just as the axes aren't physically secured to the truck. If you lift the car the truck stays on the track, if you lift the truck the axes stay on the track. Gravity holds it all together on pins so if it tips over there is a good possibility the trucks are going to stay put.

The simi trucks really help to give it scale.

I wonder how much bigger this will end up?

The building will be twice the size of the current FITH (height and square footage)

wowzers. I am very excited for this.

Very intrigued on how they're going to get the track in there if they're building the show-building first

I'm guessing the same way any indoor coaster is built.  For reference see Tron or Guardians of the Galaxy Construction photos

To be fair Tron had its track erected and then the building. GoTG's building is much bigger and could accommodate a large crane easily. This will def take some ingenuity and is a reasonable question for someone to have.

Any updates? I'm dying here!
#7
I know it's middle of January but does anyone have any updates?

So I'm going to assume there is no 2022 attraction coming. Swoosh have you heard anything else?
#9
Anything new on this? 👀👀

I mean this would fit in with the Gerstlauer rumor. It's being built in a challenging location, it's a park that would build a one of a kind attraction, and there was always the rumor sdc would get a euro fighter after Dollywood and that it might use the old waterbogin tower.

What are the chances this is the new Gerstlauer coaster that's been announced?

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: 2021 Crowds
March 19, 2021, 07:27:54 PM
Just left the park and it was PACKED. Sdc was also on the struggle bus. Most of the day wildfire, powder keg, outlaw run, and mystic river falls were down. Couple that with large crowds and wait times were horrible. Fire in the hole was running 80 mins most of the day. Went to get cinnamon bread and were told halfway through the line that it would be and hour and a half for more bread. I love the city and don't get to go very often anymore so it was a bit of a let down.

Through official or unofficial contacts? (Just curious)

Just got word from the park that Fire in the Hole is still standing and will be operating!

Swoosh looking through your photos I'm going to guess that the "mystery building" is a Dryer/locker building. The left side with the drain pipe is for the dryer and the right side that is finished is for the lockers.
