We actually didn't book the cabin when I thought we did. I posted and then got an email that they had just been booked, so I booked a condo I found online.
I'm trying to consider if there's anything we usually do that we would need to alter for a toddler.  I'm not sure there is.

We had season passes for several years while living in central Arkansas, but then we moved down to southwestern AR and it's a little farther and we haven't been in two years!
So we bought passes this year and talked our extended family into a trip because we have BaF passes. We will have my two-year-old nephew this time and I'm so excited to see him enjoy the park for the first time ever! Plus, our parents will be there and have offered to watch him if his parents want to do anything he can't do.
We just booked a beautiful cabin that will fit us all.
I'm so excited!

We don't have a specific area we want to stay. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll look into it!

Branson Talk / Suggestions on places to stay
February 15, 2017, 07:42:41 PM
I'm not sure if this is where I should post this, but I'm looking for a place to stay when we come. My family is looking for a cabin-like place that can accommodate three adult couples. I've been searching online, but I wanted to ask this community if you have any tips for finding such a place for a reasonable price.

I would like to see a redo of Fire in the hole, not a teardown but a revamp of the ride leaving a lot of old but adding more new,  including a new drop even.  Close all the incoming light and turn up the theme music.  Add the old track back in and show the ride some love without taking away the history.  Add a gift shop to the exit with some neat fire related stuff ( I like my shirt I got this year).  Rekindle the theming instead of dumbing it down.  I am afraid if they tore it down and started again the character of the ride would be lost so just a revamp would be great.

I absolutely love this idea. Fire in the hole has always been my very favorite ride because of nostalgia. My dad and I have always ridden it together. I think those older rides are very special to people, but they seem to need to be spruced up! So I would like to revamp all of the older rides. I've seen a lot of complaints about the paint and stuff from AP. I think it would be amazing if the whole park could just be completely revamp and make sure everything fits into the theme! Along with what someone said about the employees. I've also thought about how maybe they could do something about the checkout computers in the stores to make them look kinda like steampunk so it would at least kinda go with the theme.

It's so exciting that a member of this forum is going to be on a show talking about the city! Congratulations!
I am very sad that each park segment will be so short. I watch 19 Kids and Counting and one of the episodes that excites me the most is the one where they all visit the city. I am looking forward to watching!

We were so sad to hear about this. My husband and our friends and I watched his knife-making show on our trip in April. He was a true treasure to SDC.

Branson Talk / President busts around Branson?
April 19, 2014, 11:18:28 AM
I searched and couldn't find anything that seemed to answer this. I always notice the president busts that are around Branson when we visit. Reagan and Kennedy and I think I've seen another one?

Does anyone know why they are there?

I have a friend that is at the City this weekend and we apparently greatly underestimated the number of young Christians that would be attending. The last I heard was just about the traffic on the way there. I haven't heard anything about what it's actually like inside.

The passes came in the mail yesterday! That was so fast!
Now I'm already trying to plan how soon and how often we can go!

I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to make time for the passes to be worth it, so I was holding off buying them. But I finally decided that if we buy them, we will make time!
Ordered a pass for myself and my husband last night. So excited to go back to the City.

Random Talk / City baby announcement ideas
March 04, 2014, 07:14:21 PM
My friend just showed me this baby announcement and I thought it was adorable.

Since SDC is closer to our neck of the woods and we have been visiting there significantly more than Disney, and probably will continue to in the future, I was trying to think of a similar announcement idea relating to SDC for when I eventually have the need to announce a baby. Since I'm sort of a part of this little community, I thought I would ask your opinions and help.

I'd say the Tree House since it's already not being used, I guess.
It'd still be sad to not see it there.
But I think it's sadder walking past it and no one being able to use it.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: The Cave
October 21, 2013, 06:59:19 PM
We most recently went on the tour in May. I think the last time I had done it was when I was pretty young.

You're right about the advertising and stuff. Our trip was a surprise to my husband and it was his first time, so he didn't know a ton about the city. But he still had no idea about the cave after being in Branson for 24 hours before going to SDC. He had no idea until he was looking at the map and trying to figure out where we were.
It was a great additional surprise for him, though. He thought for sure that it would cost extra and couldn't believe that there was a cave inside the park!
