General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: EXPIRED refill mugs
September 27, 2014, 04:03:19 PM
They must have ran low on the Red/White/Blue ones.  We were there the first couple weekends of September and they had the "SALOON" cups at all the concession stands.  They are printed with an expectation date of 2012 but are being marketed as a "forever cup."

Okie,
I understand completely. As a family of 5, we drink water when we go everywhere to save money and calories.  SDC has always been the exception since we get a "deal" on frozen lemonade and root beer floats and neither have nutrition labels (someone will probably correct me on that but we purposely haven't looked).   We saved money on Monday and will continue to do so until we can locate some older mugs cheap.  I'm glad to know I'm not the only one disappointed by this policy change.

I read that as they would be refilled at current refill prices, not 2013 pricing.  I always enjoy seeing all the different mugs that people are using.  Why phase out this tradition?

We have used them several times this season with no issues.  Why the sudden crackdown?   ???
#7
Now we are being told they will only refill them with water.

My daughter just tried to get frozen lemonade in our 2013 OR refill mugs and was DENIED!  She was told that they are EXPIRED!!!  They were told again when they tried to get root beer floats instead.  I was under the impression that they could always be refilled, but it would be at current refill price, instead of the 2013 price.   What is going???

NO LINE AT ALL YESTERDAY!  It was "temporarily closed" all day long.   >:(  If/when they do get it running, they should change the SDC app to say "temporarily open."

My son turned two today, so we braved SDC on a Saturday!  I knew it would be busy, but it was packed!  With the pleasant temps and people trying to squeeze in one more trip before school starts, it shouldn't be a surprise that the lines were longer than I have ever seen them on most rides.  The line for the train was out if the station and all the way up the hill!  I am relieved to find out I still got the green light for OR, however it was "temporarily closed" most of the day.  PK line was out of the building and most of the way down the hill.  I heard several other park guests grumbling about OR and the lines elsewhere.
Little man got a birthday ribbon.  We rode the frogs and insects more times than I can count.  My daughters rode the kids roller coaster, little boats, big boat, TNT twice, FITH, & big swings.  We had the geese eat out of our hands at the petting zoo.  We ate more frozen lemonade and root beer floats than necessary.  Lunch at Crossroads Pizza was a very nice break.  We had a blast shooting foam ball cannons and I even shot one of the employees who was yelling at everyone for throwing balls.  We were there from 9:30 until 4 and although the kids didn't want to leave, they were all asleep not much after leaving the parking lot.  Even though we didn't ride near as many rides as usual, it was another very fun-filled day with my family at SDC.

Across from Crossroads Pizza (on the way to/from Outlaw Run).

The old hay barn?

My favorite deal is the make-your-own coke or root-beer float for $2.50 in my refillable mug.  Fill it 1/4 full of soda and then pack the rest full of soft serve ice cream.  What a tasty treat on a hot summer day at SDC!

It is in the old train depot store.
