Walt Morrison will replace him.
If Walt replaces Danny then who replaces Walt... He very well could replace him as the main spokesman & comedy piece of the band. The way I understand it they would like to get someone to replace him but they were not sure if SDC would approve it or not. They definitely could replace him with someone but it would be very difficult to replace the overall talent that Danny brought to the band.
Thanks, Pintrader. What I wrote was not what I meant - It should've read "I wonder if Walt Morrison will replace him." That's what I get for typing while standing in line. Danny will be sorely missed.

We are thinking about a last minute trip to SDC this Friday and Saturday, November 25 and 26. We've never been this time of year does anyone have any experience with the crowds the weekend after Thanksgiving day? I know most condo rentals are booked and prices are way up. I'm assuming SDC will be very busy?
It's not uncommon to block admittance during the day until the number of visitors drops.

Yes, I do agree about the folks who find it necessary to complete stop and congregate after the gates. Or they walk thru the park side by side talking taking up the whole walk way and nobody can get past them.
And, then get angry when wheelchairs and strollers run into them when they stop. Wheelchairs and strollers can't stop as quickly as walkers who've made an abrupt stop.

I am not paying for some sort of increased level in order to not have blackout dates. I am about 98% sure I am not buying passes for next year and if they implement blackout dates, I will be done for good.
Yeah I am kinda on the fence and for the first time in a decade debating if I wanna bother with getting passes for next year myself. But thats only one factor in my reasoning.
Me too...

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Year round operations

I would *happily* go to SDC year round for craftspeople, food, shopping, and the culinary classes. Open it, and stand back, because I would be there! Add shows and you would see a Prarie Wind shaped hole in my front door every weekend from New Years to Spring Break that the roads were clear!
The rides are great, but I go to SDC for more than just the rides. Unlike a lot of Parks, I think that SDC has all kinds of rich experiences that don't require a ride. If they build a few more show buildings for dark rides, it could actually go close to 365. Just institute a policy that any time the temp outside Hospitality House dips to 37 degrees, the Park closes. That should (on average) give the Citizens time to close the Park before roads freeze up and become hazardous.
The thought of opening the Park without rides (especially the coasters) probably leaves most folks cold (winter pun, get it? LOL) but I would gladly purchase a year-round annual pass in a heartbeat.
Roads, businesses, and schools close early on when inclement weather is forecast - often a day ahead of the weather because the roads are very curvy and hilly, and this area doesn't have the same amount of road crew and equipment that cities in heavier snow areas has.

Hubs and I went yesterday and noticed the same thing - pumpkins appeared to be just set out and piled randomly throughout the park. The carved ones following a theme seemed to be mixed up and placed wherever, also. I thought it was more attractive last year.

The clientele seems to be changing as of late, so this is of no surprise to me.
As the park changes, so goes the clientele. Six Flags-type parks attract Six Flags-type customers.
Good thought, Pudgy! You are right!

I went to the auction this weekend - which was interesting! Take it for what it is - second hand info - but there were several conversations about a new planned resort going up on the property.

I plan to be there on Saturday just for the fun of it! Hubs and I assume every antique dealer in the tri-state area will be there scooping it up.
