But he insisted a year ago or so that it was going to happen. Yea right. You can always trust a car dealer to tell you the honest truth, right?

I tried messing with it some tonight, but this current theme is a bit more complex than I am used to and I am out of practice. This theme actually generates style sheets on the fly rather than using a fixed css file, so that's kind of a pain.I thnk that once you explained why you didn't want a "like" button on the old forum.
I will eventually make this place look "rustic" again. You know we love our theming around here, lol.
I don't recall the reason, but it's a feature I'd like to see. It lets users acknowledge that their question was answered, without hitting the quote button and typing out a reply.

I know Shave will be updating the look and feel after making everything function correctly. So far, I'm not having any trouble at all.
Enlighten me please.
On forums, I like to see a list of all new posts since my last visit. That way I don't have to dig through the different categories.
With the new software, that's done by just clicking the star just under the Home/Search/Visitors bar. I attached a screenshot.

I started to write a long explainer about J1 visa holders, and how well they work in the hospitality and tourism industry.
I realized it was way too complicated, so let's just say that it's a good match for a resort. There will be many foreign applicants who actually have to pay a lot of money for the visa.

The style doesn't do anything to build excitement. That's a hotel, not a resort. Definitely not "hillbilly chic".

It's been years since I built a forum and played admin. It wasn't simple then, and it's only gotten more complicated with spambots.
I appreciate all the work shave puts into this forum.

New teaser trailer was posted on Facebook
They asked for guesses about announcement, but threatened to ban anyone mentioning sharks.
Someone guessed that the Waterboggan was coming back, and I so wanted to comment: "And this time with sharks, for extra danger!"

Oh, there's always been vandalism. It's just that the crowds keep getting bigger and bigger and the volume of incidents goes up.
Kevin, I'd actually say the park is going the opposite direction and will be a multi-day resort destination before long. The "cut the kids loose" crowd is kind of priced out of SDC already and that's only going to continue as they keep upscaling the park.
That's a good point, and the park is way past "arrive after 3, next day free". Single day tickets are of little use except for a small subset of visitors.
I first experienced the park as a member of the generation who drank from garden hoses and were outside from sunup to sunset. (We didn't have street lights in my small town.)
I don't know the stats, but I'm guessing that most fans now buy season passes.
The total visit experience has changed with the times, but I will always object to breaking the theme. The computer-printed signs on synthetic materials are the most jarring to me, compared to hand-painted signs on wood.
I won't apologize for missing Miss Mary's Day.

Got some photos today.
What's the "federal government" sign in the first photo? Corps of Engineers boundary?

I would continue using it. I don't really dig into old threads.
I agree that SMF is outdated. It doesn't handle images well, and images are a big part of the forum.

We are currently at Cedar Point for the 1st time in 17 years. This further reinforces my opinion of how badly SDC needs a coaster that is a longer ride time. We just got off Steel Vengeance, that coaster is so much crazier and feels like 3 times longer than Outlaw Run. We love SDC and are every year season pass holders but it honestly is a bit laughable that SDC keeps getting the best amusement park award when compared to the much larger parks like Cedar Point
Cedar Point is strictly an amusement park. SDC started as, and primarily remains, a theme park. They've added some great rides over the decades, but they're never going to try to out-coaster any other park.

As a confirmed member of the Not In Miss Mary's Day club, I'd like to see the signs be hand painted again, and not computer printed.
They replaced quite a few sings this season and they are hand painted.
I'm glad to hear that. I might be visiting this fall for the first time in years.

I just wish they would cycle some of the older music back in. The new bluegrass covers are nice and I do like how they are kind of a compromise between the new and older crowd wants, but there was a certain ambiance provided by the classic bluegrass...
I think in general I'd like to see more effort on the little theme details again. I like how they have added so many signs back to the park in honor of so many employees, but each and every one has the same thick frame around it so they kind of stick out weirdly when there are so many. I also don't like how they don't hide the modern stuff anymore like the big coolers in the stores. Just little things. At this point I'm just glad there's still a theme at all though, so I'll take what I can get.

We learned early in life that "willing suspension of disbelief" was the key to reading fictional stories.
Today we see many examples of people who can't wait to throw their disbelief over a cliff any time something tickles their ears in a pleasing way.
