Thought I read / heard somewhere recently that rumor was they were going to give Thunderation some serious work.

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Train Crash?
November 25, 2022, 09:51:47 AM
I have a bad feeling the cause is going to be related specifically to 504. Not that there is a problem with the engine but simply the forces on the cars being a little different due to the tender causing the string lining that happened to the cars.

Notice that the train is no longer listed in the Rides and Attractions section of the SDC official website:

General Silver Dollar City Talk / Re: Opening Day!
March 24, 2021, 10:12:55 AM
We were there Sunday. Noticed a couple things on the train regarding land clearing but honestly nothing stood out to me that "Hey, they are getting ready to build a new attraction here." Regarding changes I noticed this year: 1) Flooded Mine did get some love in the form of some changes and new paint, would have been nice if all the water effects would have been working 2) Time Traveler line was crazy, didn't open until a few hours after park open the the cue was full and back into the walkway where the magician used to be 3) regarding the train, they moved Icabods wreck further down the tracks but the conductor didn't change the location of the wreck in the script 4) Alphie was good but Ralphie and the conductors need LOTS of practice (I get it, opening weekend) 5) I didn't realize how many shops were closed the beginning of the season and don't open until late April or May 6) Thunderation needs some serious love. WOW, talk about messing your back up. About 5 spots that need retracking.
Overall, great to be back. They handled temp screening well, lines moved well. Can't wait to go again.

I actually just sent off 24 rolls of my grandfathers old Super8 reels for conversion. I honestly have no idea what is on them but, knowing the trips he and my grandmother took, I expect I will see some vintage SDC footage. If so, I will share it.

Saw a post that 2018 year end attendance at The City was 2,184,000. Anyone confirm this?

Thanks for the comments on your insights. It sounds like they ARE going to be doing something to FITH (and FM?) but removing them completely is not an option, right?

Construction/Rumors / Fire in the Hole changes coming?
November 12, 2018, 07:20:38 PM
Was in the City this past weekend and talked to a couple employees who stated that management is looking at FITH. Good news was that one option was to completely rehab it. Bad news was one option was to demolish it. Anyone hear any concrete information?

sir wallow, I noticed in the video there were a fireman and an engineer in the cab. Do you know if this was just because of the inaugural day or will this locomotive require a 2 man operation?

Icabod last year said the new engines were keeping their original numbers. Also heard one was onsite and had already been test running. Can't wait. It would be amazing if someone could get a photo of the new engine and post it.

Has anyone noticed where they are parking motorcycles this year? A couple years ago, the parking was on the left along the fence after you turned right at the main entrance. Then they moved them the the back of the greatly expanded handicap parking. Just asking as I will be visiting via 2 wheels next month.

Anyone know when the rebuilt engine will arrive from PA? Maybe we can get pictures of it traveling to SDC.

No one has any new information or photos of the new locos or the restoration?

Once I found out the money you gave goes to SDC's charity, I usually give them all the change I have in my pocket. I like his comment about the small wrapped candy. I will do that also next time.
