Has anyone noticed SDC and DW salvaging things lately. Some of the targets from Dreamland Forest (there were a bunch) had been moved to River Battle when it opened in 2008. There were only like five targets left in DF. I would imagine they saved the other targets, because theme park review did a trip report on DW and they showed pictures of Dreamland Forest's demolition. DW put up a huge red fence that had a picture of a pkane going though a barn and another plane flying next to the logo that said Barnstormer Coming 2011! I'm so excited. Anyways, it seems like SDC and DW both have been cheaping out lately by doing anything it takes to cut the costs, what do you guys think about this? ???

I think it is smart business.   If they can save money on things like that they can afford to put more money into other things...

I love when they save things and bring them back in other areas.  I think it's interesting how they incorporate past signage and such into a new attraction, shop, theatre...  Also it's ok to save money, after all they are given a budget from a higher authority and have to stay within in it or else.  River Blast has a few things from Splash Harbor; they didn't want to sink the funds into restoring SH, so they salvaged what they could.   FITH has cannons from For the Glory ect...

I think recycling is a wonderfull thing, I am glad there is a cannon in FITH and More glad it is from FTG as it has a history to it.  That's the way things should be.
The ability to utilise things that would otherwise be pitched opens a lot of possibilities.
Its smart, earth friendly and allows for a story.  I would have rather they took the prisoner miners with the projected faces and used them elseware not just replace them. What about you?

River Blast is also using one of the old Keel Boats from the Magic Kingdom here in Florida....talk about your salvage!

Don't get me wrong I like them re-incorperating things but, it just seems like there doing it more lately.

Yeah, we closed the Keelboat attraction 10 years ago and sent all the vehicles to salvage.  We regularly sell ride vehicles at a surplus location and I was kind of shocked to see one of them there.   If it was built ground up, I am surprised as I was told that they sold one recently to another theme park.

That's interesting I didn't know that there was a Keelboat Attraction at SDC. I learn something new everyday. And yes, DW has incorperated Dreamland Forest squirt targets into River Battle like SDC has incorporated the Keelboat into Riverblast.

betamike

Oh, sorry DWfan...no Keel boat attraction at SDC.   Just a (singular) Keel Boat as a prop at the River Blast.

Yes it was built from the ground up.  Here is the frame for it back in December

Maybe another park got it. Have you guys ever thought that maybe SDC should sell on DVD some of the shows that taped on park. My favorite soap opera As the World Turns taped at SDC in July 2007. Maybe SDC should sell this ATWT epsiode on DVD. I need  this keepsake ATWT is going off air September 17th after 54 years on TV. :( >:( :(
