Well folks, this weekend it it! The 50th Anniversary celebration year is winding down fast! This weekend is the last weekend for the "regular" season at SDC. We will have the special Christmas festival events, and then we have 2011 to look forward to. ANYONE GOING TO THE PARK THIS WEEKEND? Any reflections on how the 50th Anniversary year has gone?

I would LOVE to go to the park this weekend. My bday always coincides with the last weekend of the regular season, so its a really conveiniant (sp?) excuse to shove my husband out the door and the 2 hour drive down the road to my other home, SDC. So maybe we will see some of you there or maybe some of you that do go can think of me and have a funnel cake for me for my birthday.....

If you do go this Saturday look for late "specials".  My wife and I went in to Mary's Pie Shop a couple of years ago on the Saturday before Easter trying to decide which pie to get.  The lady working the counter said she'd sell us 2 pieces of Strawberry pie for the price of one.  We took her up on it  and she said "Let me tell you a secret- if you're at the City and the next day we're closed (which it was being Easter) we make special deals on food so we don't have to throw it away".  We've also got Apple Turnovers for a dollar each at Eva and Delilah's bakery right before the City was to be closed for a few days.  So keep looking and you may get lucky...

Wow, very nice tip Duelist!

Not to get too sentimental already, but it was a wonderful 50th year celebration! I am so glad I had an opportunity to experience Silver Dollar City during this one time only year event. ;D

Great day for SDC today. Walk right on all the rides. Powder Keg is half full when they launch it. Despite the fact that they're slow, they're running two cars :)

Today is the last day for normality! ;D

Glad you got to check it out Nate. When I was there a few weeks ago, the ride lines were very light yet they were running two trains for both Powder Keg, and Thunderation. Way to go Silver Dollar City! :)

I'm excited about christmas! I've been to SDC and DW both at Christmas time and have to say they were both fantastic.

As I write, it is 5:30pm on October 31st. The regular season is over. Christmas season is coming in a few days at SDC. I'm thankful to have made it in August for a visit in the 50th anniversary year. I hope you all enjoyed the special activities this year, too. SDC is a great place to visit and to work, and I have many, many memories of the park that are near and dear to my heart. Times with family, times with friends. Thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts and memories here, too! :D
