Great day at the city. Wait for. OR isn't bad. 20to 30 minutes.

Of course for the third trip in a row, powder keg went down before my daughter got to ride it. She mad. She rode OR but it'll be a while before she gets on it again, but she will. That sideways airtime hill is certainly different

A very chilly "good morning" from here at SDC!  Enjoying a cinnamon roll at Eva & Delia's right now, we'll be enjoying Opening ceremonies soon, then on to Outlaw Run (when it's warm enough). Crowds seem low so far, we'll see if they pick up.

Had quite the time at the City yesterday (Thursday the 11th). The purpose of our trip was to get in as much of Outlaw Run as we could now. We knew lines for it would be horrible this summer and saw this as our chance to enjoy it.

After opening ceremonies DH and I made a bee-line to Outlaw Run. Unfortunately due to the cold the ride wasn't running yet. We waited around for about half an hour before deciding to check out the rest of the park. Wildfire and Powderkeg were both closed due to temps as well, but Thunderation and Fire-in-the-Hole were not.

Headed back to Wilson's Farm at about 11 am when we thought we heard OR running from across the park. Made it over as they were dropping the rope. DH and I were on the second train to go out for the morning, sitting mid-back. WOW!!! I spent the entire ride saying "Holy Cow!" As we came in to the station the entire train applauded. It was a wonderful experience! There was practically no line, and we had the locker for 2 hours, so we took advantage. We rode it 8 times in 85 minutes (including a 10-15 min Gift Shop break in the middle). As we left one of the ride attendants told us that the forecasted attendance for the day was 2000, but they has just hit an actual 460!

We went to Crossroads Pizza for lunch, sharing an 8" Outlaw Run pizza. Not gourmet, but it was still good. Went on the train after lunch. All four cars where the old style. I couldn't tell you if anything new was added to the train spiel: either the speakers were turned down or the cars were especially noisy, because I didn't catch but a few words the entire ride. Hobo Junction has still not been rebuilt yet. :(  We walked around the park, taking it all in. Rode Wildfire once before deciding to hit Outlaw Run again.

Got our locker for another 2 hours. There were no lines. And by "no lines" I mean that sometimes DH and I were the only people on the ride! We had our timing down perfectly. We knew exactly how many beats from full-stop until the restraints released and were able to slip out quickly and make it around the the gates again, all in the time it took for one train to go around. Time was running short, but we decided we wanted to make it to 20 rides and then we would call it a day. We made it to 18 times (total) and were getting ready to depart for our 19th trip when the ride malfunctioned. The restraints in car 6 wouldn't lock. They shut the ride down for at least a half an hour while they worked on things. We stayed around and got our last 2 rides in! We had a good time with the ride attendants the gift shop people. We weren't sure if they were having fun with us or making fun of us, but we enjoyed ourselves, and that's what mattered!

We don't expect to ride again until this Fall (unless we come for extended ride time for Season Pass Appreciation), but hopefully our 20 times will last us for a while!!

I forgot to mention the speakers on the train in my review Ozarks Gal!  I had the same problem.... I couldn't hear anything on the train.  Even during the hold up skit it seemed pretty weak.

Went to Silver Dollar City today, and had probably my worst day ever....but not completely the fault of Silver Dollar City.

Got up early, and left around 7:00am and took a new route from Broken Arrow to the City and arrived in less than 3 hours. Drive was great.

Got to the park and walked out of the hospitality house right in time for the pledge and national anthem.

Proceeded to walk to Outlaw Run, and when we got there, line was already past the Barn Swing. But the ride hadn't opened yet so the line was a little deceiving. The ride opened about 10:10 and sent about 4 trains through the course, before it was closed again to add a second train to the track (why it didn't open this way I'm not sure). While waiting for the second train to get placed on the track my daughter begin to feel sick...so I had to leave and we went back to my truck in the parking lot...and that's where her and I stayed.

I left my son to ride, and after another 40 minutes, was one train away from riding when the ride broke down again on the lift. He was going to wait it out, but they made everyone leave. He went to Powder Keg and it was closed too. Around 11:30 he finally got a ride on Wildfire, then about 12:30 he was able to ride Outlaw Run. We left the parking lot at 1:30.

Anyway, we'll try again....soon. I can't believe I drove 6 hours today and didn't get to ride anything, but there will be another day...I hope.

Wow Cowboy...What was this new route from BA to SDC in less than 3 hours?  I'd love to shorten my drive some.  I'm in Cushing so I'm about an hour west of BA.  I've got outlaws...I mean INlaws...in Bella Vista Arkansas, so sometimes I have to take that route and the kids ALWAYS seem to get car sick on the drive from Bella Vista to Branson.  Pretty hilly drive through there....

Sorry about the trip.....been there, done that.  It's always a crap shoot with kidos, but still, a bad day at SDC is better than most other days!  LOL!

Seems to be lots of piddley stuff with OR, I don't recall it ever being down last Sun. As for Powder Keg. I'm getting a bit miffed. I was down on our trip last harvest fest and OTC and down last Sun. Three straight trips. I'd forgo anything for two year if they debug that darn thing and fix the theming where the water once was.

I took I-44
Exit 302 to US 60
Turn right onto Missouri Z
Turn right onto MO-39
Turn left at State Highway EE
Turn left onto MO-76
Turn right MO-13/MO-76
Turn left MO-76

I was able to fly down the road.....traffic was non-existent today.

This route is 185 miles compared to the 223 miles when going through Springfield.
