I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but the "Season Pass" advertisement in last weekend's "Pathfinder" states: "Plus 6 festivals filled with NEW FUN like the NEW Mayorov Russian State Circus during spring's International Festival, the introduction of the 6th & 7th generations of the Legendary Flying Wallendas (Buinness World Record High-Wire Walkers) at KidsFest and fall's NEW Timberworks Lumberjack Show during the National Harvest Fest."  I'm looking forward to seeing the Lumberjack show.  Not so sure about the others, I've never really been attracted to the circus stuff.

I am so glad that Silver Dollar City is returning to its roots! You don't always need a fast rollercoaster, or major stage production to entertain folks. The simple live action street skits, and now the rustic Lumberjack Show can be very satisfying.  :)

The Lumberjack Show ought to be great if it is at all like the ones they have here in Northern WI. This area around my town used to be full of logging camps and we are glad the traditions are kept alive. It's too bad that the good hardwood trees weren't replanted.

I am also looking forward to seeing that, seems to me they had lumberjack compettion in years past. But i missed  out on that.

I am seeing several changes/additions for next year. I am ready for next year now! 4 more months....

wasn't there a lumber jack show in Branson for a while?   For some reason I think it was even on Indian Point.

The sound of the chainsaw carving at this year's event bugged me.  I like the idea of bringing back the lumberjacks, but would like to see authenticity to the period.

I'm anxious to see the lumberjack show.  Does anyone know what part of the park it's going to be held in?  I miss some of the things they used to have in the Red Gold Hall such as mule jumping, trick riding, etc.  Those types of things sure beat the barn dance in my book but I guess the dancing is popular with some folks.

SDC used to have a lumber jack-lumber jill show at the waterfall in the mid -late 90's. There was the typical wood chopping, and team sawing competitions, as well as log rolling competitions on the water in front  of the falls. It was great to watch. No powered saws were used in this show.

ALSO...

The Stihl power series was held in Echo Hollow a few years back in the late 90's/ early 00's and was televised on ESPN. This involved gas powered chain saws...

You guys will have to watch it and tell me about it. I won't make it down to SDC in 2011. :(

ESPEN should have an 1880's style Lumber Jack competition. Now that is something I would tune in for! That's a real man's sport. :D

Yes, there used to be lumberjack show on Indian Point, and then it was supposed to move out on to 76 not far from the Best Western.  The piece of land is back up for sale.

Extreme Loggers, Swamp Loggers...How 'bout a new show on History:  Just Loggers.  Episodes include cutting, transporting, fluming, rolling, and using the logs for 1800s purposes.

... as well as log rolling competitions on the water in front  of the falls.

If I remember correctly, they had captive logs that spun freely, but were tethered by cables.
