Longest record stay at SDC

The longest time we spent in SDC was 26 days in a row for several years in the 90's.

If Grandma counts (she is no longer with us), I would say even though she lived here since 1968, her friends would come from KC all the time so....every event and then some. I think Grandpa would say (again if he was with us) every day for for 30 years!

Of course the husbands of the friends went fishin' with Grandpa while here so think everyone was satisfied.

I remember she would go just about everyday to hear the music and get the fudge/candies, etc. They used to do the square dancing at night too! Man, that's awhile back.

I recently met a few individuals that would sit at the Homestead every day. They were retired, and moved to the area just for this specific purpose. They would bring lunches, and things to keep busy with between watching the Pickers...sounds like a peaceful retirement to me!

We must be getting old too. We spend most of our time sitting in the rockers on the Homestead Porch. We like that peaceful easy feeling. (Hey that's an old song) My AC is out and my brains turning to mush.

3:00 this afternoon set new high of 108.. and may still warm up more today.. broke record from 1980...

NO AC?? thats just wrong.!!

It might be sooner than that! Can I get paid to sit on a porch? Cuz that's the porch I would like to sit on.

hey rube!! you suppose we get the pickers to sit on our porch at the 2000 club. that way we would have front row seating!
