Does SDC have this type of award for their citizens of the park? What are the bonus's or rewards? Just curious..

Good question, and although I do not have the answer, there are a few citizens floating around these forums who do.

I would assume that they have some sort of recognition system. If they handed out employee of the month plaques, could you imagine what the walls of say Terry Sanders would look like? :D

No "Citizen of the Month" type award.  But there is a program by which supervisors, or fellow employees can recognize another employee for exemplary service.  They hand the person they are recognizing a special card on which is filled out information detailing the act for which they are being recognized.  The card can then be turned in and the person is then eligible for a grand prize drawing for a trip or something like that.  I've never turned my cards in...perhaps one day I'll mount them in a plaque or something.

SDC has a long record of honoring employees, Zephon above tells you what they do now. In the past, they've had various things like this to recognize folks, and have different recognitions for whole shops or attractions, and so on.

Oh, I just remembered...once a year they have a ceremony in which they honor employees for length of service.  The Herschends always attend it to greet and than people.  Honorees get little gold log & axe lapel pins that have various gems in them depending on whether five, ten, fifteen, etc. in five year increments.  When you get to twenty years, they give you something else to go with it like an engraved plate, or some such.  I got a mantel clock for 35 seasons last year.  Also, at 25 seasons, you get a sign placed on park at the place of your choosing (within limits I suppose).

Zephon: Seems like some of the signs "float" to different locations from time to time. Terry Sanders' sign was on the back of Grandfather's Mansion at one point, on the bricked area. Seems like his sign was above the Springhouse near Sullivan's Mill when I was there about a month or so ago. What's up?  I think it's funny Alan Beiswenger's sign is a lifering along Lake Silver. His days as our area manager at RDDB ended about 1982 or 83 and he moved to security at that point. It's pretty obvious Alan's sign gives a big nod to RDDB.
