A place we stayed at every summer and fall while I was growing up was the Allendale/Sharp Resort down by Lake Taneycomo.  That was so much fun!  We'd go for walks down to the lake front and feed the geese.  We'd also walk through the city park down there.  We'd of course ride the Lake Queen and the Sammy Lane Pirate Cruise, which were both a blast!

Of course, all of this fell victim to the backhoe and was taken out to put in the Branson Landing.  I miss those places a lot!  It makes me feel old (I'm only 25!) that these places so filled with childhood memories are gone.  At least I still have photos of those vacations.  Does anyone else have fond memories of these places?  There were a lot of other resorts down there besides the Allendale/Sharp.  One I remember is the Sammy Lane Resort, which was on the historical register; I'm not sure how they were able to tear that one down.

Junior, too!

I don't remember the Allendale, but I do remember everything else you mentioned.  I loved the Sammy Lane Pirate Cruise, walking along the river, and feeding the ducks (also my kids favorite activity).  I'm sad that all that's gone, but I do like the Landing.  It seems to be controversial, doesn't it?  People either hate it or love it.
