So last weekend I picked up the DVD. Watched all 6 episodes and really enjoyed them. What really took me back was how well Shad Heller performed his parts. I thought I had read somewhere once that he was an actor at some time, is that right? He certainly seemed to be confident in his acting and very professional. I loved all the local references also; fishing Taneycomo or Table Rock, Jim Owens, getting kicked up Dewey Bald, Yellville, AR etc. Even if you're not a big BH fan, I would suggest picking up the DVD for some great older footage of the park and its past characters.

Yes, Lloyd was a great "performer". He was a high school actor, circus man, a native american dancer, he played the Shepherd in the Ozark Drama @ SOTH, as well as "Shad" the blacksmith, various street troupe characters among other things....

From what I understand, Paul Henning arrived and was so impressed by Shad's skills, that he was cast in the show, and even appeared in episodes outside of those filmed in the Ozarks.

The bio-SHAD- tells all you would ever want to know about him. It can be found for around $2-3 on Amazon.com.

Larson, the DVD? available at HH?

Parson B Ready

The DVD is available in the HH.  They have it playing on a TV (shhh! Don't tell anyone I said that!), in the back next to the area where the cave tours start.  The DVD's are underneath the display.

great thanks!  i will get a copy in 2 weeks!

Junior

I've got a copy of the DVD and have enjoyed it. By the way, a TV in the Hospitality House is OK by me. Once you pass through the doors onto the town square, I say no TVs allowed! :)

I actually bought in the Ozark Marketplace. They had a stack at the register where we were checking out.

I have the DVD also and I love it! I had never seen any other episodes of Beverly Hillbillies before then and I haven't seen any other ones since but I like it because of the SDC/Missouri references. Plus, I love seeing SDC as it was before I ever saw it.

The Beverly Hillbillies episodes were shot in 1969. The scene in the episode where Granny and Ellie Mae are at the basket shop includes a slender, tall gent by the name of Pete Herschend. (Although his name is not mentioned in the scene.)

Does anyone know if they ever mention SDC in any of the episodes after the six were shot at SDC?

No I don't believe SDC was mentioned in any of the future episodes, but Shad played in several more episodes after they left SDC.

that whole piece of info is some great history/trivia!
