My Grandfather served in Germany from 44-46 (at the end, and after all was over I believe). He cared for the German POW's and managed the unit during the early stages of peacetime. One evening he came downstairs (they were using a large German estate as their HQ, and saw his brother in law (my Great Uncle) sitting on the couch waiting for him, this was really great for them since he had served with the US Third Army under Patton and just happened to be passing through while joining another unit.

I served the state of Missouri for the 3 years - 86 - 89,, does that count? j/k.. :D
