Recently my wife's grandparents both passed away, and when going through the items that they had amassed over the years, I gravitated towards the photo, and paper items. I already had a brochure/ guide from the late 50's/ early 60's, and knew a little about the cave, but not near as much like what I know of other Ozark caves I have been to. I found these in their photo album.

I know they were not married at the cave (as over 2,000 couples have been) but this was a great photo of them before they started a family. I also find it funny that today, we more than likely would have asked someone to take our photo...however they opted for the shot of each of them individually!

Having never been to the cave, I would assume that this entrance has changed a bitto accomodate more people and facilities.

What stories do you have about the cave?
Located in Camdenton MO, Bridal Cave is an

a series of pictures through the years of that exact spot would be interesting..

Bridal Cave was a big attraction at one time. Is it still open? Down here in NW Arkansas, Wonderland Cave and Civil War or Rebel Cave, both commercial caves way back when, are closed. In fact, if you want to buy Wonderland Cave at Bella Vista, AR, last price I saw on it was $500,000. That is down from a $2 million asking price about five to seven years ago. It needs all new electric, pathways, new visitors center, parking...well, everything. It has been vandalized for years. Been by there myself a few times but never ventured in...sorry, it's just too dangerous to do something like that!

I have to admit I got the rubber leg going into marvel cave.....shameful I know so I understand your need to stay away from the for sale cave Jr. There is one here in neosho that is reported to be full of riches and the like. A young boy back in the day actually went into that cave and died. Now its completly blocked off. My husband thinks there is another way in as he is an avid cave/treasure kinda guy but claims old man and wont explore, again I dont blame him.

I have been spelunking many times (usually caving in wild, or caves, or ones with no set paths, or guides) and it is great...until you begin thinking about the sheer amount of rock above you, and then the ideas about getting stuck in passages, or turned around, running out of batteries etc. I have been in caves when someone got injured, and others where passages led to areas with bad air, and it was difficult to make it out in one piece.

These were nothing like Marvel cave, which is naturally ventilated, stairs to guide you in, with paths, and a train to safely return you to the surface.

My favorite part of Grandma's photo is the glimpse of the Ticket sign behind the wall by the entrance.

Yep it is still open!

We considered getting married there in 1996, but they can't hold many people and couldn't guarantee that they could keep the other visitors out. There's a gift shop/ticket counter built around the entrance now where that picture was taken. Other than that, I worked on their phone system about 6 or 7 years ago but that's about all I can offer. Sorry, not much info from the self proclaimed resident "Lake of the Ozarkist". :)

There's another one just up the road on Hwy 5 Rube, are you aware of it?

There's also one here just outside of Eldon. I see it's open again:
