We're coming back to SDC this weekend to celebrate our anniversary and get some more use out of our season passes! We already booked a room at HomeStay Inn!

I was hoping for some tips on how to do SDC cheaply. I tried looking through some old posts to see if there was a similar topic before. I know several people have talked about different things to do to make it cheaper, so if you can share and remind me, that would be great.
I guess I can generally figure out the common sense things, like packing snacks and stuff. But what are some cheaper places to eat and stuff?

palallin

Do the Breakfast buffet at Mollies.  By itself, it's especially cheap, but the food is great, and you can load up on all you can eat, which allows us to skip lunch.  That brings the overall food cost down.

Ozarks Gal

I second the breakfast buffet at Molly's!
Something my hubby and I sometimes do is to get a sandwich meal (like pulled pork or brisket) from the Riverside Ribhouse and a second order of fries and split it.
Some folks on here will take sandwich stuff in a cooler in the car, and come back out to the parking lot for lunch.

You are going to want to drink something while you are at the park. Your best deal is to use a refillable mug. If you have access to a mug from pre-2010 I would recommend using that, if not then you can still buy a mug on park (but unfortunately you'll have to buy a new one next year). And remember, ice water is free!
"Red Flanders, you come back in here and put on your pants!" "Well Sadie, I ain't got no pants no more. The dang Baldknobbers stole 'em!"

Well congrats on the anniversary...!!

Ozarks gal is right about the water being n/c..  that an be a very big deal throughout a long day.

IF you like salads, we have found the salads at Crossroads pizza to be very filling and tasty!

Lots and Lots of food options,, always ask for your SDC SP discount. not everything qualifies, but ask anyway ;)

I got a salad from Crossroads Pizza back in May and it was great! I think we'll probably just share a lot.
We just checked into our room at HomeStay! Branson is pretty busy right now but were excited to be here! Thanks for the responses!
I have a backpack with a water bladder in it, so that helps! I just remember that there are some rides that don't have any place for bags.

KBCraig

I admit that I have my Scottish genes, but... daggum!

How hard is it to eat the free continental before you go, pack some sandwiches, and have more sandwiches back at the room?

If the question is "how to do SDC cheaply", the answer is: don't pay for anything except your tickets!

That response was a bit rude. I mentioned in the original post that I was looking for more than the common sense stuff like packing sandwiches. I was wondering about specific places that have meals where you get the most bang for the buck in case we would like to get something other than the sandwiches from our bags.

Thanks for the rude response. Definitely what I wa looking for when posting this.

To the other responses, a sincere thanks for the suggestions. I don't think that we ever went to Molly's when I was a kid so I didn't really know about it. And we have stayed in hotels before with some ridiculously bad breakfasts, so that is good info for the future!

Linsey, so you are going on the weekend of the 10th?  or u are there now? the 3rd & 4th?

Ozark Outlaw

Unfortunately, it is difficult to find anything at a theme park for cheap. However, the only thing you really have to pay for inside the park is food, beverages, and souvenirs. Assuming you are not interested in a bunch of souvenirs, the only thing left is dining. As mentioned, ice water, or refillable mugs are the best option for beverages. Also as discussed, limiting yourself to one large meal at the park, rather than snacking at the concessions throughout the day will save a few pennies.

So other than the admission, two people could go a day at Silver Dollar City for under $50.

I am afraid you didn't read much of this board before you joined and posted your question.  The fact is that the members here give each other a hard time and joke around and talk kind of like we are neighbors or family.  You know the folks that can get away with razzing you because you know they are just fixtures.  I don't think you need to take this mans comments as nasty or rude.  Lighten up a little and you will enjoy the banter.

Gotta echo the previous post. We're really a pretty friendly bunch around here. So, sit down in a rocking chair here on the porch, have some kettle corn and a cold drink, and take it all in. You'll find we all share a love of SDC that is above average compared with your run of the mill theme park fans. Drift around some of the other topic threads and you'll see. By the way, glad to have a new "voice" here, hope to hear more from you soon! God bless! :)
"Howdy there folks! My name is Junior Dugan, and I'll be drivin' your diving bell!"

Lindsey,  First off, congrats on 1 year of being married.

I'm sure KB didn't mean nothin by it. Sorry it came off as rude. He's really a pretty good guy. As far as ways to save $$$, the park will give you free water, and they allow you to bring in stuff from the outside. My mom's favorite thing to do was a loaf of bread and a jar of apple butter to feed the family, but even that will set you back around $15 these days. Do you have one of the older refillable mugs?
