I thought I would mention that SDC's Reuben's Swashbuckling Adventure Won at the Golden Ticket Awards for Best New Show.

I know quite a few on this board were not big fans of the show but its probably not going anywhere anytime soon if you missed it.

It wasn't going anywhere anyway.   It's on track for at least 5 seasons.
I have a hard time taking the Golden Ticket Awards seriously anyway so this has little effect on my personal opinion of the show.

Wow.  The other nominees must have been horrible for Reuben to beat them.

lol, bunch of theatre critics here. Theme park shows are few and far between, and most are done as cheap afterthoughts. Ruebens, and the other big SDC shows, are pretty unique in their ambition if nothing else. This Golden Ticket is well deserved if for no other reason than because there isn't much competition and SDC blew it out of the water on expenditure alone.

All SDC shows are at least a bit corny though, and all of them shamelessly rip off songs and jokes from wherever they can. But at the end of the day the shows are at least interesting and a valiant effort.

I still think Ruebens will probably get better next year with a few adjustments.

I've been a season ticket holder at the Fabulous Fox in St. Louis for 4 seasons now.  After seeing close to 60 different Broadway shows in my lifetime, I'd definitely classify myself as a critic / connoisseur

I won't go into my credentials, but I'll accept the role of critic.

This show wasn't going for corny.  It was simply flat and disjointed.  Sadly, it tried to hard to be too many things.

I have to agree with you on that!  I don't think I could sit through again no matter how much I wanted to get out of the heat for awhile.

I just returned from the Tetons. Hubs and I went to a dinner theater production of Big River (Huck Finn) at the Spur Bar in Jackson.  I didn't expect much, but wow was it great! Dinner and preshow entertainment during/after dinner were so much fun with saloon gals and bar tenders in costume singing old western numbers.  Big River was fantastic - funny, sad, serious, and very slightly politically incorrect, and so well played.  I wish SDC would consider a play such as this one.
