That Loop was removed in 2007 I believe.

It was- my point was we need something unique that we cant get by driving several hours in another direction- sometimes its hard to give a woodie personality (magic mountain in trying by currently building a terminator woodie in california).

I had always been a fan of the woodie until riding ghostrider at knotts (longest woodie on west coast)- it set the bar for roughness and generally an unpleseant ride expierence.

The great thing about SDC is that when they add a wooden roller coaster, it will be as smooth as Ozark Wildcat.  That thing restored my enthusiasm for wooden rollercoasters.  I took my nephews several years back on the Screaming Eagle in St. Louis and the back car nearly beat us to death.  It had been a long time since I had been on a wooden rollercoaster, and I felt so sorry for my nephew that I shielded his head with my arm to avoid the brain trauma.  I never bruise, but that sucker beat my arm black and blue.  To follow up that lovely ride I took my other older nephew who is a dare devil on "The Boss" because I thought since it was newer it would be smoother.  Needless to say we rode, and then considered looking for a portable dialysis machine for our battered, bruised, failing kidneys.  We swore off wooden rollercoasters until we tried Celebration City's OzCat.  Smooth and fun.  Probably one of the most family friendly rollercoaster with all the clatter and clank of a wooden coaster, but none of the pain.

^You should give Screamin' Eagle another shot.  They've done a lot of retracking on it and it was super smooth last season.  Boss, while getting some facelifts and reprofiling, is still rough as heck -- and a lot of that is due to the trains they are running on it.  Evel Knievel is by far the best woodie at the park due to the Millennium Flyer trains that GCII puts on all their coasters.

Thanks for the advice.  The family may have to make a trip up and try it out this year.  I didn't know they had retracked it.

I actually had forgotten Eval Knieval was there.  We haven't been since the wooden mosh pit experience, but that was a long time ago.

How does this 6 flags park compare to 6 flags over texas?

^Meh, SDC and WOF don't exactly engage in coaster wars. Even though the crowds to both overlap some, if SDC built a coaster similar to Prowler it wouldn't be a big deal, while being a huge plus for the park itself. However, I'm guesstimating that for their next coaster they'll go for a blowout. The fact that they wanted something along the lines of MM says something. Imagine if they went with an Intamin pre-fab like T-Express or El Toro.... http://rcdb.com/ig3938.htm?picture=21

Now that would be a one-up!

No kidding.  A 77 degree drop would be very exciting! ;D
