Dollywood fans may notice that the Thunder Road simulator ride has changed its name this season to White Lightning. According to the park, this actually has nothing to do with any kind of conflict with Carowinds over the use of the name, but instead has to do with the Hollywood issue of the film the simulator's story is based on. The park decided to improve the film and digitally remaster it, but rather than continue to pay licensing fees for the reference to the 1950's Robert Mitchum film, they just changed the name and removed any references to the old film of the name Thunder Road.
