The table was in Molly's Mill a couple of weeks ago when I was in for breakfast.

Do you remember the good old days when the Dine In The Mine restaurant would seat you and then bring over a plate with pickles and a large wedge of cheese?  Meals were served "family style" and desserts were brought around on a tray?  Ah, one of my fondest memories!
At one point in the late 60's early 70's they served Apple Cider Slush as well!

Does anyone know if the Mine Restaurant still has the "special" table?

^As of last year it did, but it hardly ever runs anymore. I can see a lot of people getting ticked off about it nowadays.

Refresh my memory.  Right now I'm drawing a blank...what is the "special" table?

Okay, maybe "Old Guy" doesn't want to know, but it's driving me crazy!  What is the special table?

I sat at the Special table in the mine 2 weeks ago when I was there.  It is still there and my kids loved it.

It's a table near the cash register in the Mine restaurant that moves up and down. The thing is, the employees usually don't tell you that when they seat you. It's usually set to be so slow that you don't notice for awhile. It can get pretty hilarious when just the right type of people sit there.

Oh my goodness, that sounds GOOOOD.

As for the special table, I'm so short, I'm just the "right type of people" for it. LOL

Now, can someone request to be seated at the special table if it isn't occupied?

Darn now the secrets out! Yes, you can request that. We do It for ( or to) all our friends.

It's been YEARS since we got the special table. I don't even know how we got it; probably by pure luck. I think was probably only 11 or 12. It was the only time we've ever sat there.

And it turned out to be okay to tell my friend the secret 'cause I then learned that she'd encountered a table like that elsewhere before.

I can't believe I forgot about the special table, because we were seated there when I was about 8 or 9.  It just slipped my memory until Steve mentioned that it moves up and down.  We thought it was hilarious!  We were eating and I remember thinking that the table was moving, but I didn't want to say anything because I thought it was only in my head.  Finally I said something and my family agreed that they thought it was moving too.  They were also relieved that someone finally got up the guts to say something (we all thought we must be imagining it).  We asked a staff member about it and they just laughed and said they had begun to wonder if we were going to mention it at all.  Everyone got a good laugh out of it!  ;D

I had no idea there was even a such thing as the "Special Table." I'll watch for it next time.  ;D

^You didn't know because it WAS a "secret"  ;) :D

I wouldn't say it was a secret, they actually tell people before hand now - or at least the people working there the last time I was there did. I didn't think it was worth holding back anyhow.

History Buff

McFarland's Restaurant in the Imax complex has two of the "special tables".  It's not the same because it's not dark and in a mine setting, but it gets the same reaction.  Some unsuspecting family is always caught by the rest of the dining room.  It was featured on Candid Camera a few years ago - the first gag that Candid Camera did not set up on its own.
