Deer Run Motel (very disappointed)

Does anybody know why Deer Run Motel was showing Hard-Core Pornography on Channel 2 at 10:00pm tonight? The office is closed, I've sent an e-mail and will be voicing a comment with mgmt tomorrow. I hope this is some kind of a glitch! This is ridiculous!

I don't think Deer Run determines what is on TV. I'm sure once they're notified they'll look into what kind of service they're getting. It's not unheard of for hotel TV offerings to include pornography though. I've stayed in far ritzier places and had some kind of porn come on the second I turned on the TV.

Well, that’s a total bummer! Every motel I have stayed at in the past, always charged me a fee to watch the pornographic channels.

I am just teasing of course! I have never considered staying at the Deer Run Motel before, but thanks for the heads up. Perhaps the motel really is run by deer? Okay, I digress.

I was quite surprised to see that TripAdvisor ranks Deer Run as #30 (out of 147 hotels) and 95% of the people who reviewed it would recommend it. No mention of porn in the reviews. You might want to get on there, write a review, and let others know about your bad experience. If nothing else, the management won't want the bad publicity and Hotel owners review this site for feedback more often than one would think.

I would actually recommend AmazInn & Suites myself. Great pool, breakfast, wi-fi, etc. It isn't as close to SDC, but it is off Shepard of The Hills Expressway very close to the IMAX and several nice restaurants. You can avoid 76 entirely, (except crossing it) on your way to Hwy 265, where you can make a right turn to head to SDC. Why deal with traffic any sooner than you have to?

too bad about the bad expierience. with the time and money we invest in our branson trips we dont need that hassle.. ok. that said:

As i have posted earlier I have been staying at this motel:
Managers name is PAIGE and I have worked out a "deal" for all SDCfans..
1 nite stay 40.00 + tax. No charges for additional peopele, and it is good for any of their rooms.

Check the wbsite. all rooms have coffee,fridge,micro and they have a continental breakfast!

She can also get show discounts in town for no extra charge.

I've stayed at Deer Run many times--probably close to twenty times this is the FIRST time I've ever had ANY kind of a problem. I'm going to speak to the manager about this issue, and find out what they say. I will post their response on here when I get one. I probably should have waited to talk to them before I even posted. But wen I saw this, the office was closed and I was pretty upset. I needed to vent.

Venting is perfectly acceptable around here as long as it is done in safe, and healthy manner.

Let's just consider the Deer Run Motel to be on the status of hiatus until we find out what management plans to do, if anything to rectify the problem. If they do their very best to resolve the issue, then they can keep their spot on the recommended hotel list. If they don't, then at least we all know now in advance to look elsewhere.

Okay, my wife just returned from talking to the manager. Periodically, the cable company offers "free" previews of other channels. Evidently this is what happened. The manager told my wife that they were not paying for this channel, they didn't even know they had it. She called the cable company and they told her that in order for her to keep from getting "free previews" such as this she would have to pay them to block them. Obviously she doesn't want to pay not to get something she didn't want in the first place. Instead she is going to go through all the rooms tv sets and block the channel manually. She told us how to block the channel on our tv and we have already done so. She was very apologetic and mortified about what we had stumbled upon. I am satisfied at her explanation, but would now like to give the cable company a piece of my mind.
So, if all are in favor, we can reinstate Deer Run to favored status, just be wary of channel #2 on your TV set!

Yeah, our baby flipped the TV to that channel last night for a brief moment. This is our 5th stay here, I think, and that had never happened before. Glad to know you got it taken care of!

After some bad experiences exiting the park at Christmas, we don't want to stay anywhere else!

I e-mailed the Branson Chamber of Commerce and the city council and let them know about our problem. I didn't do this to get "Deer Run" in trouble, I'm quite satisfied with their explanation, actually I didn't even mention the name of the hotel in which I stayed. But I did provide them with dates, times and channel number. Branson is well-known to be family friendly...the CoC and city council should be informed and mortified to know that their cable company is allowing unfiltered pornography to reach hotel rooms at a time when young children can easily access it.
