Has anyone heard/seen Foxfire Light?  This morning I was searching for a movie to watch on my Netflix and found this movie.  It was filmed in the early 80s right here in the Ozarks.  It has scenes in downtown Branson showing the old doll shop, Dicks 5 and 10 and the Farmhouse restaurant.  It also shows off the beautiful mountains and Table Rock lake.  At the end of the movie, at the "old fashioned bbq," the band playing is, I'm pretty sure, the Homestead Pickers from SDC.  The movie was pretty great if you are into cheesy romantic movies with a soap opera story line.  Needless to say, I loved it.  Just was wondering if anyone else had seen it.

There were a number of "locals" in that movie.  And it's not the Homestead Pickers, it's a young (comparatively) Horsecreek band.  My buddy Jae is the guy driving the car that holds up the signs.

If you like a.) Branson, b.) Romance, and c.) Dramas...then this is for you!

At one point there is talk about the Balds (mtns.), Haints, Stone County, Conquistadores and Treasure...

I think at 1:19:53 you can hear the whistle of a distant train...perhaps the Frisco?

The movie was not my normal genre, The story line didn't do much for me, a tad too predictable. One time through was enough for me on this one.

For those intersted, Foxfire is a natural phenomenon sometimes visible at night in forests. It is caused by bioluminescent fungi in special conditions—usually on rotting bark. Foxfire is caused by a range of different species of fungi, though Armillaria mellea appears to be the most common source. This particular species emits a bluish-green glow, like glow in the dark toys.

I have seen these in Mid-Southern Missouri once, and it was one of the coolest things to see at night other than shoting stars in my opinion. Though I do not believe they pulsate at ground level like in the movie, it is still cool.

Possible Inconsistancies:
Jae MacFerron is credited correctly in the film, but on IMDB.com as "Joe".

The firefox appears as a pulsating mass, not like the small glowing colors usually presented under this phenomena.

------Now the questionable ones, these could simply be my mistake--------
The group when speeding to the  "Springfield" airport crosses the a station labeled "Table Rock" looking similar to the Table Rock Dam. They then soon after cross R/R tracks looking similar to Downtown Branson nearly 10 miles away.

They go to "Springfield to catch a Denver flight. Ozark, had its hub in StL. Though formed through Springfield -StL routes, Did the airline have direct from Springfield MO-Denver flights? The airport used in the filming was not Lambert StL, it is either M. Graham Clark - Taney County, or Springfield, MO Airport (I know 2 former stewardesses from Ozark, I will check with them on this routing issue).

Foxfire Light was a Janet Dailey romance novel. The film was adopted from it. One of the Dugan boys...Ken Fowler, is an extra in some of the crowd scenes. During the time I worked at SDC, I had a chance to be an "extra" in three film productions shot in the Branson area or in Northwest Arkansas, and, like a young, dumb, kid, I passed on all three opportunities! The film was shot in '81 or '82. I remember I had just moved to southeast Missouri in September of 1983 to go to college at Southeast Missouri State University, and Foxfire Light was playing at one of the local theaters in Cape Girardeau for about three days. Then it was pulled and disappeared. It bombed at the box office. I have always wanted to see the movie, and hope I can get my hands on a video or DVD. I figured though that it must have been pretty sappy to disappear so quickly from the theater. The only other movie I can recall that came, went and disappeared so fast was Paul McCartney's "Give my regards to Broad Street," (1984?) which also was a stinker, and was only in my local theater in SE Missouri for maybe two or three days before being pulled. Thanks for posting the pictures that you did...some of those shots look like they were taken yesterday, not twenty some years ago.

Here is the area I am talking about near Table Rock...Not the dam, but it looks a heck of a lot like it, maybe someone can spot where this is...

Are you sure it's not the old Table Rock Dam?  I live not too far from the dam on Lake Norfork in AR and the dam road looks very similar except it says Norfork on the tower.

I think that is table rock damn and sgf airport used to have flights direct to Denver. We flew there once on our way to california.

Alright I believed it was VERY similar, and I did not know when the structure was changed. but my initial guess, and the reason why I added both the 1982, and the Google NOW photos were to hopefully pinpoint the same location.  They would have been heading North on 265 which would have taken them about 40 min to get to Springfield MO. No idea of time is given, we don't know the time they left to go to the ariport, so it is definitely plausible.

The only thing myself or my parents couldn't remember/recall was the restaurant that over looks the lake that she had lunch at.  Does anyone know anything about this place?  I'm sure someone does
