I was wondering if anyone can tell me if SDC has pocket knives? I know the knifemaker has fixed blades, but I didnt know if he, or any store there, has pocket knives? When I was at SDC three years ago, I didnt get to actually shop and go store to store and I never made it by the knifemaker. I just started collecting pocket knives and would love to have an SDC knife! Seems appropriate, dontcha think?!

Don't know what the SDC policy is now, but back in my time, not only did the gunsmith shop sell pocket knives, some employees carried them at work, too. I remember a couple of the gunsmiths, decked out in their leather pants and shirt, dressing "mountain man" style would carry huge bowie knives in their waist bands or in a sheath.  As Junior Dugan, I carried a pretty big lock blade "Buck" brand knife. I carried it folded in a case, and would use it occasionally to cut rope at the diving bell. There were times I'd pull out my lock blade and open it up in front of guests to cut something, and would get some gasps at the size of the knife when fully opened. I know the gunsmiths with the big bowie knives got the same reaction when they removed their cutting blades from their sheath or waistband. Of course, back then, I also carried a pipe and smoked cherry tobacco in it while "working the line" at the diving bell. That was a different time and era, because my guess is you will not see employees smoking or carrying a knife on park today. The gunsmith shop is the only place I remember seeing a knife on sale at SDC, maybe with the exception of the Hospitality House or the Ozark Marketplace where they may have sold some cheap little pocket knives with the SDC logo on it, or something like that.

I was in the knife shop repeatedly last year, and do not remember seeing any pocket knives.

Do you want a knife that has the SDC logo or just a knife from SDC? The knife maker has them and if you go during the Harvest Festival there is a gentleman that makes knives as well. My dad bought one last year - it's a beaut! Also, if you buy a knife in the park, an employee has to escort you to the Hospitality House or you have it sent there for pick up.

Now that you say that, I do remember a knifemaker over by the GE>  he was on the "north" side of the road, right across form the entrance to EH>

I don't know if you are talking about the little swiss knives but my wife got me one of those a couple years ago.  It says Silver Dollar City on one side and has my name on the other side.

Unfortunately just today it went through the washer and came apart!

Yeah, I was hoping for a pocket knife with the SDC logo on it. I figured it would be a great addition to my collection (only in it's infancy). And considering that SDC is knife territory, you'd figure they would have some somewhere! Hope I can find one!

Andy, went by PK today and checked out the knives for you. they are actually a small utility knife. (knife, scissors, screwdrived) Keychain combination.  Does say Powderkeg on it. it is pretty small.  I have pics and will post them tomorrow sometime.

I also checked the knife shop, yes they have several pocket kives in there. nothing with logo.  And nothing you cant buy at any sport store, bass pro shop or walmart.

i also asked at HH, and was told no knives there.

Andy, I found some more knives at the woodcarvers.  they are a full sized utility knife, some have names already "carved" into them, and I think they can carve some of them.

They are NOT hand made, they are a factory knock-offs, and I am sure they are jap made. BUT they are better looking than the ones by PK. Priced about 9.00

I did not have camera with me, sorry no pics. :-[
