Investors are a good thing, they can get the production costs, and sale costs down for us consumers!

Didn't want to make a new thread for this, but some might be interested to see that Bing Maps' images of SDC have been updated recently. Looks like the images are from early this season, making them even fresher than Google Maps at the moment

Awesome find!

I love Bing's "bird eye" view, (aerial pictures taken from an airplane which gives better depth) but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be available for this area of Branson.

Either way, this is an excellent catch!  :)

MissinTheGreenTrams

i think I could spend the day looking at sdc! Thanks for the great find!
The smell of asphalt and butane says home!

Reviving this old thread, because of a recent news article.

I don't think Google would have to pay any of us, they could just donate the backpack camera, and any of us would hike around all day with it.

They do need to make a ride-friendly version, though.  ;D

And, the camera might capture a lot of taffy and fudge and the pickers....

QuoteGoogle Maps is interested in having folks take to the trails and capture the scenes using their Trekker camera back pack camera system. The Trekker is a 42-pound backpack that houses a 15-lens camera system and is powered by an Android device.
...
Google is making Trekker available for non-profits, university, research, tourism entities, or even individuals. You can get to the online application here.

Sounds like fun! I would totally do this!
"Red Flanders, you come back in here and put on your pants!" "Well Sadie, I ain't got no pants no more. The dang Baldknobbers stole 'em!"

They would have to have a one for people that ride rides and another for the people that like crafts / shows. Just to get the full effect

I use 1960s cameras and get stares....think about the looks you'd get wearing this one!

KBCraig

In the hills, 42 pounds would be a beast!

okiebluegrass

I saw some footage from a 1960s camera taken in 2004. Was that yours?

Has anybody taken their Google Nexus 4 and done any photo-spheres in the park yet? I should have done it at Christmas time and I forgot.

If you haven't seen them they are basically 360 panorama's. These are from when Google first released the phone:

KBCraig

iPhone panoramas aren't 360 degrees, but I plan to shoot a bunch when I visit.

rubedugans

Photosynth on the iPhone app allows for full views allowing for full 360 views up down left right etc.....

Ozark Outlaw

I just purchased a new point-and-shoot camera from Sony which has a 360 degree feature. I cannot wait to get to the city, and try it out! :)
