Kid-free Anniversary Trip advice

The hubby and I have a 3 night, kid-free trip to Branson in 2 weeks to celebrate our 10th anniversary! We are very excited, and slightly nervous. It's the longest we have been away from our boys, but they will be in good hands with my parents. We are staying in a Loft Suite at the Keeter Center and having brunch there on Sunday (our last day).

I am wondering if you guys can offer advice about places to eat the other days Thursday, Friday & Saturday for lunch/supper. I know we will do Danna's, that's our fav, but I was wondering about some less loud/crowded/touristy places. Not necessarily romantic or fancy, just a place we may not normally be able to enjoy when we have our boys with us.
I was planning to go to Cantina Loredo at the Landing, but have read some negative reviews about mediocre food and bad service.
And we will go to SDC (we have season passes) and I'm sure eat some there, maybe some special things for World Fest.
Any suggestions?

LaHacienda -Off of shepherd of the hills expressway. I have found them to have reasonable prices, great service. spacious seating Background music usually not loud, Good mexican food. They also have small restaraunt in Hollister.

I do like Old chicago, But it is typicall noisey there, unless you set outside on the deck.

OF course, you have Applebees,(noisey), Country Kitchen (Quiet)..

Mybe someone else on here will give you ideas of more (local) eating places.

Since you are staying at the College of the Ozarks, don't miss a lunch or dinner or the Sunday brunch at the college. Yup, right there in the Keeter Center the student food service program does a wonderful job of cooking and serving. I'm a former student there, and as recently as the last two or three years my wife and I stayed there and enjoyed the Sunday brunch. By the way, the Sunday brunch is a favorite among the locals, too. It has been for over three decades.

Hey Mandy there is a great restaurant downtown that is a favorite of locals. Its privately owned and the food is superb. Better yet is a coupon you can get that gives you 30.00 worth of food for 20.00. That takes a great sting out of dinner.

Here is a link to the ticket place, you can either pick the voucher up at the storefront or if you are staying at a hotel they will deliver it for free. Being that a buffet at Golden coral ran me 12.75 the other day and that was WITHOUT a drink, makes this cheap, and who doesn't like to feel like they got a great meal at a great price

One more suggestion is Charlies Steak & Ribs off 76 strip close to the Titanic. They are back off the road, have pretty good steaks and great ribs, make their own microbrews and comfortable atmosphere! They usually have ribs specials everyday. My hubby and I like it.

We like to eat in the small restaurants (excluding the farmhouse) in old downtown by Dick's Five and Ten. The Branson Cafe is good. Their apple dumplings are spectacular! There are also some great shops with great sales. If you like Marshmallows, the chocolate shop down there have chocolate covered marshmallows drizzled in caramel and nuts. I don't like them, but my dad buys a dozen every time he and mom go down.

I was told over the weekend there is a small bar/restasuraunt on the main drag in old branson.. very "local", quiet. You can sit in the booths and have supper and regular conversation.. Think it is on a corner lot. only sign is a neon "bar" sign in window.

anybody know this place.? I would like to check it out and sounds like a good place to eat for mandy.

My wife and I discovered a local Mexican food place on Downing Street, downtown Hollister that was pretty good. Local folks, no tourists, fast service, good food, no hassle. We'll be going back.

in hollister? was it la hacienda? we ate there last year and yes it was GOOD!

there is also one on the west side of branson on shepherd of the hills trafficway.

The only place I can think of for the restaurant/bar in ole downtown would be Rocky's. It's an Italian place, pretty secluded and small but the food is good! It is just before the Landing. As you are heading down on 76, right before the Landing, take a left at the last stop sign before the stop light and it is behind/next to the coffee place. Parking is a little difficult.

Sorry! If you go ask for Francis (okay in french it's pronounced Franswaw..hee hee!) He is great and really funny. He's the manager and main bartender.
